The Kendrick Brothers are passionate about people knowing and experiencing the love of God.
“Just because Jesus is Lord doesn’t mean you’re relating to God well as your father,” Stephen Kendrick said in a video posted to Facebook. “If you’re not believing He’s gonna answer your prayers, if you don’t believe He loves you, if you don’t believe that His heart is for you, then you need to start seeking God as father, relating to Him as father, reading what His word says about His perfect role as your father in heaven.”
He concluded, “And ask God to reveal to your heart who He is and how He wants to relate to you.”

The Kendricks’ work often incorporates themes of fatherhood. In 2021, they released SHOW ME THE FATHER, which focuses on the fatherly role of God.
“SHOW ME THE FATHER is a wonderful, inspiring documentary. It tells six emotionally powerful stories about fatherhood,” Movieguide®’s review describes. “Four stories involve two football coaches who mentor four young men from broken families to become better men and better fathers. Another story tells how God performs a miracle in helping a man and his wife find the perfect daughter to adopt. A sixth story shows how an older man overcomes a serious bout with depression to bless his own three sons.”
Movieguide® notes that the film “has a strong Christian, biblical worldview, with many great biblical references. Just as good, if not better, the movie overtly stresses that Jesus Christ is the visible image of God the Father.”
“When you talk about fatherhood, even [with] the most hardened criminal, you’re pulling on some heartstrings,” Kendrick told Crosswalk Headlines ahead of its release. “Our prayer has been that people have an encounter with the Holy Spirit while they’re watching this movie because it is going to move you emotionally.”
The theme of God as our father is all over the Bible.
Jesus says in John 14:7, “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
“The only person who dares wake up a king at 3:00 a.m. for a glass of water is a child,” Pastor Tim Keller said of Christians’ relationship with God. “We have that kind of access.”
If you struggle to view God as your father, you can pray for Him to open your eyes to view Him that way. Romans 8:15 encourages this close relationship when it says “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”
