The New York Jets and the New England Patriots faced off on Thursday night, with the Patriots emerging victorious 27-14.

After the game, several players from both teams joined together at the 50-yard line to take a knee and pray.

“Patriots & Jets players joined together to pray to Jesus following their Thursday Night Football game,” sports analyst Jon Root shared on X. “Players included: Justin Fields, Drake Maye, Stefon Diggs, & more…”

The Patriots currently lead the NFL with a 9-2 record, thanks to their rookie quarterback, Drake Maye.

Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne and Maye share a common interest: their faith in Jesus. The two have started going to Bible studies together.

Bourne spoke with Patriots Wire and shared how “Maye mentioned being influenced by Instagram stories of Bourne doing couples’ studies.”

“Drake one day was there, and we were talking about where do you see others, how do you get influenced, certain things,” Bourne said on the “Sports Spectrum” podcast. “And he talked about me. I was posting me and my wife doing Bible study. I would just post a little clip of us having the books, couples’ Bible study. And he was just like, ‘Yeah, I noticed that on your story, and it was really influential.'”

“I’m like ‘Dang.’ It kind of blew me away. I’m like ‘Wow.’ Like, and it kind of warmed my heart. I almost started crying,” the athlete continued. “I was doing it innocently, not doing it for attention, simply promoting God. Like, this is what I’m doing with my time, just showing the world.”

During a recent event, Maye, who writes “Jesus” in his Instagram bio, advised college students to focus on their faith.

Don’t forget to tell people you love them or that you appreciate them,” he said, via Bryant News. “Be yourself and know that you’re good enough in the eyes of the Lord, if you’re a believer in faith, and if not, you’re good enough to yourself. I’m just trying to be myself and not be somebody I’m not.”

The Patriots will face off against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. ET.

It’s encouraging to see an athlete like Maye lead his team to such success while leaning on the Lord and his teammates for strength.
