GILMORE GIRLS was one of the most heartfelt dramas of the early 2000s, and word has it there may be more to come.
Kelly Bishop, known for her role as matriarch Emily Gilmore on the show, recently sparked hope among fans for a festive return to Stars Hollow. In a November 2025 interview, she addressed the possibility of a Christmas-themed movie.
“Well, it all really ultimately depends initially with Amy [Sherman-Palladino], and I think that she’s open to it,” Bishop told the “In Her Words” podcast. “And I think Lauren [Graham] is, and now you can find Alexis [Bledel]. Alexis is less enthusiastic about the business. She, I don’t even know that she wants to be in it. She lives in Texas or something, but she would probably do it for the right amount of money.”
She added, “I would always be interested in doing it. So, I think it’s there’s a possibility here because this show is just amazing. It just won’t stop.”
The series recently celebrated its 25-year anniversary in October. Around that time, cast members chimed in on the impact GILMORE GIRLS still has on viewers today.

Scott Patterson told The Hollywood Reporter,
“The medicinal and therapeutic effects this show has on people are extraordinary and it’s deep,” Scott Patterson, who played Luke Danes in the series, told The Hollywood Reporter. “I don’t know if Amy [Sherman-Palladino, creator] wants to hear it, but this show saves people, and it saves them on a daily basis. It soothes, heals and gives people hope there are better times ahead, that there were better times in the past and that we can have a better time in the present.”
Sherman-Palladino reflected on the show, saying she knew it was going to be something special from the beginning.
“We had a sense we were doing something special even if only we knew it, so then you have to keep that bar high,” she explained. “My actors were so good. Lauren is so good that my fears of sending a script that wasn’t as good enough was very deep. Lauren would come in to block a scene at 7 in the morning, go to the makeup trailer, and she didn’t know her dialogue for the day; and she would learn 10 pages of dialogue in the time she had hair done.”
She added, “I don’t know how she did it. I don’t think she’s human because that’s impossible, but she did it. Then she came and performed and acted, and she elevated everything to a crazy level.”
GILMORE GIRLS was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2002 and won a 2004 Primetime Emmy Award.
Beginning Dec. 18, the Warner Bros Studio Tour in Hollywood will host a special holiday tour in honor of the show. A press release announced, “fans are invited to step into Stars Hollow, fully recreated with authentic detail and dressed for the holidays at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood.”
There will also be surprise visits from cast members during this time.
While there’s no confirmed plans for a Christmas reprise, it sounds like anything’s possible for Star Hollow.
