THE MUPPET SHOW will be back on Feb. 4, 2026, on ABC and Disney+ for its 50th anniversary.

This time, it will be executive produced by Seth Rogan and Sabrina Carpenter, who also stars.

“It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights, it’s time to get things started as The Muppet Show returns for a triumphant event on Disney+ in 2026 with special guest star @SabrinaCarpenter!” Disney+ announced on Instagram on Sep. 17.

Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and the gang will “put on a variety show filled with music, comedy, and plenty of chaos,” the news release said.

They’ll be voiced by longtime Muppet actors Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel, Parents reported.

The special will serve as a pilot for a new Jim Henson-inspired series. The studios behind THE MUPPET SHOW are 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures.

The SHOW is written by Albertina Rizzo and directed by Alex Timbers. They executive produce with Rogan, Carpenter, Goldberg, James Weaver and Alex McAtee for Point Grey Pictures; David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter and Michael Steinbach for The Muppets Studio; and Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson, Deadline reported.

Many fans wrote comments of joy when they heard the news.

“I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING 💚💚💚” one fan wrote with three green heart emojis, presumably for love of Kermit.

Another said, “GUYS! If this is a hit! Then we’re getting a full season EVERYONE LOCK IN!!!!” while another wrote, “This is the most important thing that has happened on Disney+.”

Time Magazine once called THE MUPPET SHOW  “the most popular television entertainment now being produced on Earth.” All five seasons of THE MUPPET SHOW, which aired from 1976-1981, are available now on Disney+.

The Muppets has featured many great names from Hollywood in its shows, specials, and movies, including Diana Ross, Julie Andrews, Elton John, and more. On Dick Van Dyke’s birthday this year, Dec. 13, The Muppets’ Instagram shared a photo of him smiling with Kermit.

“Happy 100th Birthday to our friend Dick Van Dyke! Whether he’s performing on the big or small screen or co-hosting our 1979 special The Muppets Go Hollywood, Dick is the ultimate song and dance man, who never fails to put a smile on our faces. How lucky are we that we’ve had a century of Dick Van Dyke’s magic in our world?” the page wrote.

Muppets fans everywhere will be sure to tune in on Feb. 4.
