How This Hollywood Actress Came to Know the Lord

Candace Cameron Bure shared a moment from a 2022 podcast episode with Danica McKellar where McKellar shared the exact moment that she began to believe in the Lord.

“The moment for me was somewhere in the middle of the passion play that you took me to in your church,” McKellar told Bure. “There was something about watching Jesus do things even if they’re hard because it’s the right thing to do in this earnestness. And there was something about it. It’s just like everything rushed together…My dad says that’s the Holy Spirit came into me; he’s right. And I remember, after church, after that, I was like, I think I want to share this.”

“On the car ride from church to home I was like, I have to share this joy, I have to share it. I got home and I did this live Instagram and I just remember crying and I was like, this is the most amazing thing ever and I just want everybody to feel this and to know that they have this and this relationship is there for them if they just ask for it,” McKellar added.

McKellar has since made it her mission to use her platform to share the gospel and encourage her fans to take their faith seriously. She began a short show later that year where she shared the “Bible Bits” that she was learning as she began her faith walk in earnest.

“Hello, Great American Community, I am so happy to be with you again and this is another ‘Faith Bits’ video,” she said in one of these videos. “There is an expression called ‘Godwink,’ not sure if you are familiar with it. But it is when something happens in our lives, some coincidence…some miracle that happens…and I love the name ‘Godwink’ because it is like God is winking at you like, ‘I got you, don’t worry.’”

“This happens for all of us. I believe that this is not coincidence, it’s communication. And its connection and it’s really exciting,” she explained. “When these things happen, it is our tendency to dismiss them, or forget about them. I am encouraging you to write them down. When these ‘Godwinks’ happen, write them down and start a little journal.”

Meanwhile, as her faith has become more mature, McKellar continues to share deep truths and profound ideas with her audience that come from her Bible readings.

“What I see in this, the very human trait of justifying and rationalizing behavior, that we know is wrong, but we want it to be right. I know I’ve done that before and then I look back and I’m like, ‘Hmm, I was rationalizing that. I wanted it to be true because it was convenient or safe or attractive or whatever it was, but it wasn’t right,” she said while discussing King Saul’s disobedience to the Lord.

“I love how many of the stories in the Bible are so engrained in our culture and to see where it all comes from is just really exciting,” she added in talking about the story of David and Goliath.

It is amazing how one moment changed everything for McKellar, not only causing her to start her faith journey, but also allowing her to empower millions of her fans to take their faith seriously as well and grow closer with the Lord.
