GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer media organization, just nominated Chip and Joanna Gaines’ BACK TO THE FRONTIER as an Outstanding Reality Program.
According to the Movieguide® review, BACK TO THE FRONTIER is a reality TV series on HBO Max about three modern-day families who reenact the “homestead” lifestyle of 19th-century America. In episode one, three family units join a summer-long competition where they role-play as Western settlers in the late 1800s.”
The show features a homosexual family among the contestants, and the Gaineses received significant backlash for the inclusion, as the home reno couple was previously known for adhering to staunch Christian values.
While GLAAD President & CEO, Sarah Kate Ellis praised the nominees, saying, “LGBTQ stories are a winning strategy for a global audience who demands bold and original storytelling,” the numbers speak differently.

According to the US TV Database, BACK TO THE FRONTIER doesn’t even crack the Top 5 most popular shows on the Gaines’ Magnolia Network, with FIXER UPPER: THE CASTLE taking the top spot with almost double the viewership of BACK TO THE FRONTIER.
Audiences want clean, uplifting content without an agenda.
Christians make up the bulk of America and choose their entertainment according to their values.
According to Movieguide®’s Annual Report to the Entertainment Industry:
Should Chip and Joanna Gaines go back to making shows without woke elements?
The mass media of entertainment creates the culture that shapes the hearts and minds of children, teenagers and even adults; and so, through the vast audience, the mass media of entertainment creates the culture controlling society.
However, the Hollywood Entertainment Industry can’t afford to ignore the world’s 2.6 billion Christians, including America’s 245.63 million or so Christians (72%) who say they believe in the deity of Jesus Christ and who believe Jesus Christ was the Son of God who came to Earth to be sacrificed for our sins.
They also can’t afford to ignore the 225.16 million Americans (66%) who believe God is “a perfect being and cannot make a mistake,” nor the 242.22 million Americans (71%) who believe in the Holy Trinity, nor the 225.16 million Americans (66%) who believe in the historical physical resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Nor can they afford to ignore the 118.55 million Americans who go to church weekly on a typical Sunday morning.
Neither can Christians afford to ignore the influence Hollywood has on the world’s children and grandchildren, and on the society in which they live.
Thus, the Gaineses would do better to stick to their roots and the convictions of the Holy Spirit to create entertainment.
