“Bobbie (Reba McEntire) pushes Steve (Pablo Castelblanco) into auditioning for a local commercial to keep him busy, not realizing she signed herself up to be his scene partner,” the logline for Episode 7 of Season 2 reads, adding. “Isabella gives Emmett notes on his new appetizer for the tavern.”
In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Kevin Abbott teased, “Steve judges her acting chops as she reads lines with him. Hint: He’s not a big fan.”
“Pablo always comes up with some unexpected behavior or spin,” he said of Castelblanco’s performance, adding that the actor “had me bent over laughing all week.”

In fact, Abbott said, the cast and crew had “so much fun with the storyline that we wanted to do even more with people ‘acting’ in the show,” which led to bringing on McEntire’s former REBA co-star Joanna Garcia Swisher.
Swisher plays a social media influencer who tries to coach the bar’s staff through making social media promotional videos.
The SWEET MAGNOLIAS actress had previously shared her desire to guest-star on HAPPY’S PLACE, telling Parade, “No doubt. If they were to ask me to do it, I would 100 percent be there and I would move mountains to do it.”
Swisher said she intended to visit the show’s set once she returned to Los Angeles, saying, “I really want to go back and watch them create that magic. They’re just all so special to me. In front of the camera and behind the camera, that’s family.”
The actress also teased a potential cameo from McEntire on SWEET MAGNOLIAS.
“We have tried to get Reba on. I always am trying to work with everyone from REBA because I love them so much,” Swisher said. “But HAPPY’S PLACE and THE VOICE keeps her very busy…I’m sure if Reba wanted to dip her toe in Serenity, we would make it happen.”
McEntire spoke to NBC Insider about what viewers can expect from the remaining episodes of Season 2, calling it a “good emotional rollercoaster.”
“You’ll just laugh, and then the next scene, it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, my heart’s been torn out,’” she said. “It’s just wonderful writing. Just love it. We can sink our teeth into it.”
