GREY’S ANATOMY superstar Eric Dane died last week after suffering from ALS. He was 53.
The day after his death, Netflix shared a posthumous interview where the actor left one final message to his two daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14, who he shared with wife Rebecca Gayheart.
“I stumble sometimes, but I try. Overall, we had a blast, didn’t we?” Dane began to say to Billie and Georgia in the interview that was secretly filmed in November 2025.

Dane loved watching his daughters play and swim in the ocean.
“I see you now playing in the ocean for hours, my water babies,” he shared. “Those days, pun intended, were heaven.”
Dane then left his daughters with four lessons he learned as he battled ALS.
“First, live now, right now in the present. It’s hard, but I learned to do that,” he began. “For years, I would wander off mentally, lost in my head for long chunks of time, wallowing in worry and self-pity, shame and doubt. I replayed decisions, second-guessed myself. ‘I shouldn’t have done this. I never should’ve done that.’ No more.”
Dane encouraged his daughters to “fall in love.”
“Not necessarily with a person, although I do recommend that as well. But fall in love with something. Find your passion, your joy. Find the thing that makes you wanna get up in the morning.”
“Third, choose your friends wisely. Find your people and allow them to find you, and then give yourselves to them,” the father emphasized. “The best of them will give back to you. No judgement. No conditions. No questions asked. Just show up and love your friends with everything you have. Hang on to them. They will entertain you, guide you, support you and some will save you.”
Lastly, Dane said, “Fight with every ounce of your being and with dignity. When you face challenges, health or otherwise, fight. Never give up. Fight until your last breath. This disease is slowly taking my body, but it will never take my spirit.”
“Fight, girls, and hold your heads high,” he said as he started to tear up. “Billie and Georgia, you are my heart. You are my everything. Goodnight. I love you. Those are my last words,” he finished.
Dane passed away on Thursday, Feb. 19, after announcing his ALS diagnosis in April 2025.
“With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,” his family said following his death. “He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”
Our prayers are with Dane’s family and friends as they mourn this loss.
