ALMOST FAMOUS actress Bijou Phillips leans into faith as she keeps up her search for a kidney donor.

According to US Weekly, Phillips was born with “underdeveloped kidneys” and has undergone one transplant already. Now, “Phillips has been given limited time by doctors, and now must navigate dialysis, complicated donor matching and a medical system she says is stacked against patients.”

Though the actress has tried to keep her life private, she knows now is the right time to speak out.

“To put my health out there publicly was terrifying, but my friends and family got fed up with me. They took control and were like, ‘We’re doing this.’” Philips told US Weekly.

Philips is supported by her siblings, her boyfriend and businessman Jamie Mazur, and friends including Nicky and Paris Hilton and Kimberly Stewart. “They serve as her advocates when she can’t be, sending messages and presents and even talking with her doctors via group chat,” US Weekly reported.

Even though she has a lot going on in her life physically, Phillips’ emotional health remains “strong.”

“I’ve been through a lot in my life, and I don’t know if I would change anything. I’m a pretty happy-go-lucky person, and I usually look at the bright side of things. It takes a lot to make me lose my way or feel sad,” she said.

As she faces the uncertainty of finding a kidney, Philips has leaned into prayer and decided to partake in Lent this Easter season.

“I have so much more compassion for myself and an ability to really take time to take care of my body and myself…I’ve found a deep need for spirituality that I didn’t have when I was younger,” she said. “I’ve been praying a lot. I’m in a little group that prays the rosary in the morning, right after drop-off. I’m going to try to do a traditional Lent, fasting on Wednesdays and Fridays.”

On Feb. 11, Philips made her health life public when she shared on Instagram, “I need help finding a kidney.”

“I’m asking as a friend, a sister, an aunt, and, most importantly, a single mother to an incredible, brave daughter,” she wrote.

Philips then opened the door to anyone who would be willing to donate.

“If you are interested in making a difference and becoming a living donor, please fill out the brief questionnaire via the link below. It will only take 15 seconds and can save a life,” she said.

Please pray for Philips and her family as they navigate this scary process of finding a kidney donor.
