Patrick Muldoon died suddenly on April 19. He was 57.
Best known for his roles on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, MELROSE PLACE and STARSHIP TROOPER, the actor died following a heart attack, per Deadline.
Tributes from his costars poured in following the news.
“This is such heartbreaking news,” Alison Sweeney, who worked with him on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, posted on X. “Pat was a rare kind of person—brilliantly talented, endlessly kind, and generous in spirit. I was so lucky to have worked with him when I first started at Days, he made me feel at ease right away. He brought his unique charm and humor to work every day. A truly gifted guy, and one who will be profoundly missed.”

“RIP Patrick Muldoon. 🕊️,” wrote actor Jake Getman on Instagram. “Worked with him when I was 8 on LITTLE DEAD ROTTING HOOD — a great guy and always kept the energy light…#gonetoosoon.”
“RIP, my friend,” Dean Cain wrote on X.
Born in San Pedro, California, Muldoon first found fame as Austin Reed on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. He starred on the show from 1991 to1995 and returned after a 16-year break in 2011.
On MELROSE PLACE, he played Richard Hart, appearing on the soap opera from 1995 to 1996.
In 1997, he starred as Zander Barcalow in the movie STARSHIP TROOPER.
Muldoon was still active in the movie industry. Just days before his death, he promoted the upcoming feature KOCKROACH, which he was slated to produce.
“So excited to be a part of this amazing project KOCKROACH directed by Matt Ross starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Edgerton, Zazzie Beetz and Alec Baldwin,” he posted on Instagram just days ago. It’s currently filming in Australia.
According to Variety, his latest acting role was DIRTY HANDS with Denise Richards and Michael Beach. It’s set to release sometime this month.
“When a routine drug deal goes bad for the Denton brothers, they must fight for their lives if they’re going to survive to see the next day,” a synopsis reads.
Muldoon is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart; his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon, Sr.; his sister and brother-in-law Shana and Ahmet Zappa; and his niece Halo and nephew Arrow Zappa, per Variety.
Deadline said that those close to him described him as “endlessly generous — with his poetry, his humor. and his unmistakable presence.” He “loved animals and people alike, gave unforgettable hugs, and possessed a rare quality of making others feel safe and seen,” his friends said. “Stylish, charismatic, and full of life, he embraced each day with a full-tilt, rock ’n’ roll spirit.”
