Tamera Mowry-Housley knows what her children really need.
“I used to think being a good mom meant doing everything right,” she wrote over a YouTube Short that showed her busy house filled with children and chores.
She then revealed what they actually need: “The truth is that they don’t need a perfect mom; they need a praying mom.”
Battling mom guilt isn’t new for the SISTER, SISTER star, but she works hard to reframe her mindset about motherhood.

“It’s very easy to not be present when you’re a working mom,” she admitted in an interview with Parents last year. “You’re thinking of other things when you’re with your kids, and they’re asking you a million questions, saying ‘Mom, mom, mom, mom.’ And if you have multiples, it’s magnified.”
“It becomes overwhelming,” Mowry-Housley continued. “But I learned the importance of making time to be there for their most important events. I was blessed enough, and I would say privileged enough, to say no [to the talk show].”
Mowry-Housley left the daytime talk show THE REAL in 2020 to dedicate more time to her family.
She now produces movies for Hallmark, and her work is inspiring her daughter Ariah’s interest in acting.
“She’s like, ‘Mom, I want to be in your movies…I want a speaking part,'” Mowry-Housley said. “And I’m like, ‘Well, Ariah, it’s a lot of hard work, and you might have to audition.’”
Most recent, Mowry-Housley starred in Hallmark’s ALL’S FAIR IN LOVE AND MAHJONG.
“So excited to share this special new Hallmark movie, ALL’S FAIR IN LOVE AND MAHJONG, on @hallmark!” she posted on Instagram earlier this month. “We had so much fun filming this, and I can’t wait for you all to see it! This film is so refreshing and fun. What a treat to have found friendship and also a new love for Mahjong!”
It comes out May 9 at 8/7c on Hallmark.
She spent quality time with her family on Easter, sharing some photos from the day.
“A beautiful Easter Sunday in Napa, filled with faith, family, and gratitude,” she wrote in the caption. “Our hearts are full after such an uplifting church service, an amazing meal at @ciaatcopia and we feel deeply blessed to share moments like these together.”
Even if you aren’t doing everything perfectly — and let’s be honest none of us are — Mowry-Housley reminds us that what our children need isn’t perfection but for us to pray and have a relationship with God.
