Chris Pratt says we all have a hole in heart that only God can fill.

“I work in a business where we create idols and we worship them, and no one is worthy of worship,” Pratt said on the “Not Dead Yet” podcast with Ben Sasse and Chris Stirewalt. “So not only do we create idols to worship, we create idols to burn. And so it’s not an indictment on the system that they would look at me and say, ‘You know what? He said this, so let’s burn him.’ Everyone in my position is going to be burnt.”

The actor emphasized that “as as human beings, our hearts are designed in such a way that we have a spot reserved in them to to be in awe of God.” But when idols — whether that be people, positions or possessions — try to fill that hole, people “burn” down.

“That’s why I need that’s why I need God, man,” Pratt continued. “That’s why I need God, because having a nice house and a cool car and the ability to go on whatever fishing trip I want…it doesn’t fill the hole inside of my heart that is in a very specific shape that God is the only thing that can fill it.”

On Instagram, Pratt encouraged his followers to check out the podcast.

“If you don’t know, back in December Ben was diagnosed with stage four metastasized pancreatic cancer and he started this platform to navigate life with his diagnosis,” he wrote. “Super proud of this one and being able to chat with two extraordinary guys!”

It’s incredible that Pratt keeps a heavenly perspective as one of the biggest stars in Hollywood today. His most recent movie, THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE, garnered $131,703,340 its opening weekend at the beginning of April. So far, the movie has totaled $890,003,169 in box office sales across the globe. Currently, its the No. 1 movie of 2026.

“I want to say thank you to the audiences around the world for making THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE such a success,” Pratt wrote on Instagram shortly after its release. “Thank you for pumping much needed life into the box office this weekend. Thanks Miyamoto-San, Nintendo, Chris Mellendadri, Illumination and Universal for trusting me to voice Mario. Adults and kids alike are flocking to share in the nostalgia of these beloved characters and stories. Such an awesome cast across the board! I feel so blessed to be a part of it. Thanks again!! LETSAGO!”

Part of Movieguide®’s review for the film reads:

THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE is a funny, eye-popping series of rousing set pieces. It has an amazing variety of colorful, fantastic sets and characters. There’s some intense action violence, scary moments and scary creatures, however. THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE has a strong moral worldview with some redemptive content. It stresses good overcoming evil, helping others and doing the right thing. The movie also promotes strong bonds between sisters and brothers. Finally, Luigi and eventually Mario express love for their enemies. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger and older pre-teenage children because of the intense action violence and scary parts in THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE.

We applaud Pratt for reminding us that only God is worthy of our devotion and worship.
