Eve Plumb, better known as Jan from THE BRADY BRUNCH, reminisced on her days on the show when she visited THE BRADY BRUNCH house in Hollywood.
The 1959 home is famous for its exterior that’s shown in the series. In 2018, HGTV bought the iconic house for $3.5 million. It underwent a complete renovation to match the interior to the one from the series. A VERY BRADY RENOVATION shows the process.
The house opened for tours this summer.
“It’s funny because it’s been made a historic cultural monument now. So, it’s this thing that’s been made up out of whole cloth,” said Plumb.
“It’s a historic cultural recreation of a set that was on Paramount Lot.” She gave her approval: “That being said, it’s fabulous. It’s right down to the square inch.”
To visit the home as an adult felt odd for her.
“[Co-star] Chris Knight and I were there to talk about the plaque [naming it a Historic-Cultural Monument] that they’re going to put near the house,” she said. “It was a very fun event, and it’s always odd to be there because it feels like I’m on the set, but I’ve gotten a little more used to it.”

Tina Trahan, who bought the home from HGTV, told PEOPLE she’s tried to make it a near-perfect replica of the show.
“So when people come in, they see items that they remember from the shows and remind them of the episodes,” she said. “So that has been really fun. It makes it much more of an experience.”
Knight shared on Instagram, “So excited we were able to support @tina_trahan_ in her efforts to make history by making the Brady Bunch House the first ever historical/cultural landmark. It’s a great day to be a Brady!”
He told The Hollywood Reporter, “I have to constantly remind myself, I’m not on the set. It’s fantasy become real. You look through the window, and you see sky.”
“You open the front door, there’s a street, you have four walls, you have a ceiling, so you have all bits and pieces that were fantasized about not really being there. It feels very real. It wasn’t real, but now it is, and so it lives forever, and it’s nice that others find comfort in that.”
In another video, Knight stands in the kitchen and reminisces about his time on the show.
“It was right here that I learned I didn’t need to put on airs and that…I’d be stuck with pork chops for the rest of my life. Thank God I like them,” he said.
The house’s visitors will have to fork over a lot of money to see those orange counters, though. A “Semi Private-Self Guided Visit” of one hour costs $289.75 per person. You can get two tickets to Disney World for less money.
