3 TLC Families Who Put Faith First
By Movieguide® Contributor
Whether praying before a meal or being vocal on social media, these current TLC families share something in common: faith in Christ.
The Busby Family
Adam and Danielle Busby and their six daughters make up the cast of TLC’s OUTDAUGHTERED.
Danielle shared that as parents to quintuplets, they get asked every question imaginable, but the answer to each one is the same: “Our faith is what keeps us grounded and keeps the foundation…It’s all…because we stay connected with God, who is in the center.”
When the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, the family needed time to rest. They decided not to continue with the show. But God revealed that they should continue.
“God gave you a story and a platform, and you stopped walking through that door, and he wants you to step back into that,” a man told Adam.
Two days later, they received an unexpected phone call from TLC.
“God was working through the whole process,” Adam said.
Movieguide® previously issued a prayer alert for the Busbys’ when Danielle faced some persistent health issues.
The Roloff Family (Zach & Tori)
Now in its 24th season, LITTLE PEOPLE, BIG WORLD features Zach, Tori, their three kids and other members of Zach’s family.
Tori frequently mentions faith in social media posts as she navigates life with her spouse and three children.
“Do we really want God’s input about our daily life or know what God is thinking about our situation? We need God when we think we have it all together AND we need God when we know we don’t,” Tori posted on Instagram.
Movieguide® recently reported on how Tori and Zach relied on God through their miscarriage:
Roloff [said]: ‘Parents should never know the heartbreak of losing a child. I pray that we can all find peace that our babies are waiting for us in heaven and we will meet one day.’
Even in Roloff’s painful circumstances, she encouraged her followers to remember God’s blessings and to thank Him…
Roloff concluded by sharing Isaiah 41:13, which reads: ‘For I hold you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God. And I say to you ‘don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.’
“I know our baby is with our Lord and I can’t wait for the day I get to meet them. In the meantime, I’m thankful for our guardian angel in heaven and my babies that are here with me,” she wrote in another post.
The Derrico Family
DOUBLING DOWN WITH THE DERRICOS parents of 14, Deon and Karen Derrico shared that faith is their “core value.”
“That’s who we are…It’s constantly shown in our deliverance and the way we do things naturally,” Deon told Fox News. “We want to help others. This is just a blessing to be able to give the kind of help that we give and move our family. We want to help other families do the same with their households.”
The Derrico family is often gathered in prayer in their show’s episodes.
“Many people say, ‘…That’s so many. How do you do it?’ We want this. This is a blessing for us,” he continued. “This is not your view of it. It’s a blessing to us.”
The couple shared that they didn’t have a number in mind regarding how many children they wanted, leaving it up to God.
“It wasn’t like a set, like, ‘We’re going to have only 14 children.’ It was nothing like that,” Karen said. “[Deon] asked me, and I was like, I just wanted as many children as God blessed me to have, and that left it open. So here we are now. We’re thankful and grateful there’s 14.”
