5 Habits Candace Cameron Bure Makes a Priority
By Movieguide® Contributor
Candace Cameron Bure has been a beacon of light in Hollywood for years. She continues to act and show up in the media without diminishing her faith in Jesus. She’s been vocal about what she’s prioritizing these days through her podcast, social media posts, and interviews. As a new year is upon us, we’d be wise to learn from Candace as she continues to focus her time in a way that pleases God.
Devoted Bible Reading
Candace Cameron Bure has positively influenced her priority to read the Word of God. She’s been public about her commitment to reading the Bible in a year, more specifically by following The Bible Recap by Tara Lee Cobble.
Bure appeared on Bible Recap’s Instagram Stories at the beginning of the year to share that even on her busiest day, she plans to spend 30 minutes with the Lord, a non-negotiable for her. She’s also incorporating the Dwell app, a phone app that allows you to set aside time with God each day easily.
We can all learn from Candace’s priority to read the Bible daily.
Practicing Mindful Reflection And Gratitude
Fans of Bure know that the star has dealt with depression in her life. While several things can help prevent and help depression, Candace emphasizes the importance of mindful reflection and gratitude. She opened up on “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast” about her grief journey after losing FULLER HOUSE co-star Bob Saget. “Moving from grief to gratitude. It’s not always easy, but after (personally) moving through many losses and difficulties over the years, it has taught me to be able to sit and be with others when they experience loss or hardship,” Bure shared.
In 2021, the actress wrote “Healthy in the Hustle“, a gratitude journal, specifically with this intention. The journal encourages women “to take a moment for mindful reflection each day. The prompts are designed to help you tune in to their thoughts, feelings, and physical activity, fostering self-awareness and emotional health.”

Christians love that Bure doesn’t hide her faith in her roles. Recently, on her podcast, she shared a boundary she has in her Christmas movies. “One of [the lines] that’s always been a really big theme in Christmas movies is to ‘follow your heart’ — [it’s also] in a lot of rom-coms. But the Bible says that the heart is wicked and deceitful above all things. That’s Jeremiah 17:9. So we’re actually not to follow our heart, but to follow the wisdom that God gives us.”
When that particular line appears in a script, she asks the filmmaker to change it. ‘I don’t ever want to lead someone in something that I know is deceitful, that is not biblically sound,’ she added.
Focusing On Quality Food And Intentional Exercise
Bure is an excellent example for Christians dealing with various mental health struggles. She prioritizes her physical health as she sees the positive effect it has had on her battle with depression. Women’s Health detailed the exercise Bure does to stay in shape. “Kira programs their workouts and specific weights they use based on what Candace has access to. For example, when Candace is on set, she often doesn’t have access to a gym, so instead, they’ll focus on endurance work and fine-tuning, using smaller, three-to-five-pound dumbbells and bands. “She loves to feel the feeling of engaging her muscles,” Stokes added.
To keep up with her busy schedule and exercise, Bure also keeps a close eye on what she eats. “I keep a fairly strict diet,’ she said. “My job depends on it.” According to Cosmopolitan, despite a hectic work and travel schedule — the actress bops between sets in New York and L.A. on the regular — Candace generally feels great about her body. ‘Like most women, I fuss about a few things I wish I could change, (but) I am at my best weight and fitness level considering my lifestyle,” Bure said.
Her Role As A Wife And Mother

Several years ago, Candace shared a story about her top priorities, which included being a present mom and wife. Focus On the Family reported, “On one particular 10-day trip, Candace came home every night after Natasha was already asleep. Five days into that schedule, she realized she had made a big mistake. Although she loved acting and couldn’t imagine her life without her career, Candace decided to become a stay-at-home mom — for what turned into a 10-year period — while her children were young.”
“I’ve learned that I need to prioritize the big, important things in my life first,“ Bure explained. “When it comes down to the day-to-day, that changes every day, so it’s important to be flexible and reprioritize. When the balance feels off, I’m either not spending enough time with God or my family.”
