Rising Christian Musician Ben Fuller Collaborates with AMERICAN IDOL Favorite Megan Danielle

Ben Fuller, a rising star in the Christian music space, asked Megan Danielle to join him on re-recording his song “If I Got Jesus,” originally released last year on his self-titled album.

Danielle, who placed second on Season 21 of AMERICAN IDOL, had previously caught Fuller’s eye when she covered the song on the show.

“I couldn’t help but just believe her every word when I heard [Megan] sing a cover of ‘If I Got Jesus,’” Fuller said. “A few weeks later she was in the studio singing her heart. I’m privileged and humbled by your love for Jesus, Megan. What a gift you are to so many, and thanks again for singing with me.”

The song emphasizes the importance of a relationship with Jesus and how, through Him, you can overcome any trial that comes your way.

Fuller and Danielle both have a heart for sharing the Gospel in a down-to-earth, relatable way rather than acting high and mighty.

Fuller’s past is full of sin through drugs, alcohol and past relationships, but rather than hide from his past now that he is a Christian, he leans into his past to help those stuck in a similar life to know there is a way out through Jesus.

“Let’s just be honest with each other,” Fuller said. “[I know] how hard that looks, especially with an image and trying to uphold things. But I’ve just found out when I go onstage and say that I had a gun in my mouth when I was 16 years old,” it breaks down barriers. It helps others know they can talk about their struggles, too.

Though she doesn’t share the same past as Fuller, Danielle has a similar heart, believing it is best to talk about our imperfections and the wholeness we find through Jesus rather than act like we have it together all the time.

“I was born to share the love of Jesus. Even though I fail every day, I sin, and I’m not perfect… I would never claim to be perfect,” she said. “I know it is so easy to get trapped into what the world wants of you and lose focus of His word because of what the world wants…but I am here to tell you, it is going to be okay. God loves us, and we need to share more of Him.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Danielle:

Christian singer and AMERICAN IDOL finalist Megan Danielle recently shared that she has no hard feelings towards this season’s winner, Iam Tongi.

Danielle praised her fellow contestant for his talent and congratulated him on his win.

“I feel like Iam was deserving and he’s so humble and so talented,” Danielle told NY Post. “And this was his time and I’m just super proud of him,”

The 21-year-old responded to fans’ claim that the death of Tongi’s father before his auditions influenced the votes to his favor by saying, “Even if I was first, second, last, whatever … I feel like any of us really deserved it.”

The singer summed it up to providence for the outcome of the 21st season of the hit show.

“I would say that it isn’t [rigged—the votes] just because, you know, I feel like God made all of this happen for a reason,” she said.
