Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix broke his ankle in a thrilling playoff game on Jan. 17, and as disappointing as it was for him and his family, they’ve decided to trust God.

The injury and surgery recovery has sidelined Nix for the next 12 weeks.

The quarterback’s mom, Krista, took to Instagram to share her perspective on the game and how their family’s been doing.

“The Bills took a timeout to ice Will(😂) and I turned to hug Izzy. Yes, we hadn’t even officially won yet but I knew we were about to. But the last few plays I had noticed Bo seemed off and Izzy [Bo’s wife] had seen it too. So, yes, you could say we knew,” Krista explained.

“It’s been a long week. My momma heart has been sad and even angry,” she continued. “Above is one of the only pictures I took last weekend. I won’t squeal on who threw them down the hall but I can tell you this mom wanted to. (And don’t misconstrue that his cleats had anything to do with his injury🤪) The beautiful thing about life with faith is even in the midst of great disappointment the GOOD shows up!”

“We have literally been overwhelmed with messages and calls pouring out sweet prayers and encouragement,” Krista added. “And we are so thankful for each one! I will never forget Bo’s teammates and the whole Bronco organization after the game…their disappointment for their teammate was obvious but their resolve to not let this amazing season end is greater. The memory Izzy shared earlier this week of a stunned hallway will be forever imprinted upon my heart.”

Krista went on to explain that no matter how much she wanted to make things right, she can’t. The only option is to trust God.

“Sometimes a momma can’t make it better. Sometimes she just has to stand back and watch them walk through it,” she said. “And being a mom of three football boys you all know this isn’t my first injury rodeo. Perspective is so powerful and candidly I can say Bo’s has been better than his mom’s this week. But it’s true. Our faith gives us peace and reason even when the world’s view doesn’t make sense.”

“God is so good to always show up when you need Him most,” Krista declared. “He lets you be mad and sad and then gently reminds you of truth…that God orders each of our steps and that we could be living a life with far more disappointments and life altering issues other than a broken bone. And even when we don’t understand, HIS ways are always good.”

“Often times our family’s life and adventures on social media look so grand…the wins, travels, and even in our losses we smile.. but it’s important to me for you to see that our life (and my attitude🤪) stinks sometimes too,” she concluded. “And that doesn’t make us doubt our faith less it actually strengthens it. I won’t be freezing at Mile High tomorrow but I sure will be cheering…Go Broncos!”

She ended her post with one of the greatest promises in the entire Bible, Romans 8:28.

The verse reads, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Krista’s post reminds us that no matter what we face, God is right there in the midst of it.
