3 Doors Down vocalist Brad Arnold just canceled his summer tour to fight stage 4 cancer, but he’s “not scared of it at all.”
“I had been sick a couple of weeks ago and went to the hospital and got checked out, and actually got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung,” the 46-year-old said in an Instagram video Wednesday. “It’s Stage 4, and that’s not real good.”
The band, which has been together since 2000, was set to tour with Creed, Daughtry and Nickelback this summer.
Renal carcinoma is the most common kind of kidney cancer. Per The National Cancer Institute, treatment may involve all or partial removal of the kidney and immunotherapy.
“We serve a mighty God and he can overcome anything, so I have no fear,” Arnold said. “I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all.”
The singer apologized to fans for the cancellation and reassured them his faith is strong. He also asked them to pray for him at every opportunity.
Creed’s lead singer, Scott Creed, commented on the post, “If anyone has the FAITH and STRENGTH to face this fight, it’s YOU brother. You and your family are in my prayers daily.”
Arnold captioned his post, “Now, I believe ‘ITS NOT MY TIME’ is really my song,” referencing one of the band’s songs. “This’ll be a battle so we need our prayers warriors! Thank y’all for being the best fans in the world.”

The family of late Charlie Daniels called Arnold their “dear friend.”
Daniels helped Arnold with his sobriety journey and “saved his life — Brad’s words, not ours,” the family wrote.
“Today he shared his cancer diagnosis with the world, and we want to lift Brad up in prayer for healing,” the Daniels family wrote. “The best part is that he’s done the most important healing already, and that is his spiritual healing and his faith in the power of Jesus.”
Many other fans and artists commented with encouragement.
Gavin DeGraw commented, “May God bless you brother. Showing us how to conquer the darkness with light.”
“Will be praying for you every day! We do serve a mighty God! Believing you will be fully healed in Jesus’ Name,” singer Sara Evans said.
On May 1, Arnold shared Ephesians 3:20 on his Instagram: “His power at work in us can do far more than we dare ask or imagine.”
Please pray that Arnold maintains his faith and strong courage as he undergoes treatment.
