Brandy Collaborates with Daughter on Christmas Song: God’s ‘Greatest Gift’

Singer and actress Brandy just released her first Christmas album, “Christmas with Brandy,” in November.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the artist revealed why she created the album.
“[The album] was something that the fans have been asking for, for a long time. I’ve been around for such a long time, to not have a Christmas album is kind of absurd,” she said. “So I’m like, ‘Why not make 2023 a holiday moment for me and for the fans?'”
Brandy created her Christmas album with Motown Records, which features 11 hit tracks.
Tracks include traditional hits like “Deck the Halls” and “Jingle Bells” plus two original songs, “Christmas Party for Two” and “Christmas Gift.”
“I wanted to have a variety for everybody for this album. So of course, the first single is about love,” the singer said. “People want to be in love during Christmas too. They don’t just want to be joyful and cheerful. They kind of want a little steam here and there.”
“Christmas Gift” holds a special place in the singer’s heart as it features her 21-year-old daughter, Sy’Rai.
“And then I have ‘Christmas Gift,’ which my daughter is the greatest gift God has ever given me. So it was the perfect song for her to collaborate with me on, and it was just a great experience,” she added.
Brandy’s Christmas content didn’t stop there. She also stars in the Netflix original BEST. CHRISTMAS. EVER!
“Every Christmas Jackie (Brandy Norwood) sends a boastful holiday newsletter that makes her old college friend Charlotte (Heather Graham) feel like a lump of coal. When a twist of fate lands Charlotte and her family on Jackie’s snowy doorstep just days before Christmas, she seizes the opportunity to prove her old friend’s life can’t possibly be that perfect,” a summary of the film reads.
“Jackie has a very positive outlook on life. She’s been through a little bit more than what I have, but she has a positive outlook on life,” Brandy said of her role in the movie. “She believes in family, she believes in friendship, and she loves the holidays and just anything to make people smile. That’s her spirit. And I think I have a similar spirit. I’m a people person. I love to make people feel good.”

The synopsis shares that the movie begins with “a college rivalry between two college friends, Jackie and Charlotte. Each year, Jackie sends a holiday newsletter that makes Charlotte seethe with jealousy over her friend’s supposedly perfect life.”
“But when Charlotte ends up staying at Jackie’s for Christmas, she uses her opportunity to prove Jackie’s life cannot possibly be as perfect as she presents.”
The MOESHA star plays Jackie in the movie. Brandy posted on Instagram, “Get ready for the Best Christmas Ever…I’m so excitedd to join this phenomenal cast for this special holiday film coming soon to @netflix.”
