CeCe Winans, Mom Delores Winans Talk Faith and Prayer: ‘God will be Faithful’

Gospel artist CeCe Winans and her mom Delores Winans are teaming up to share how God acts on his children’s prayers and faithfulness.
“God is faithful. God will be faithful to you, so fall in love with him,” CeCe told viewers in a recent PRAISE ON TBN episode.
“Prayer is the top priority,” Delores added. “Okay, years ago when I first got saved — about 65 years ago — that’s what they taught us. That we had to pray to learn to [talk] to God.”
At first, Delores felt hesitant to pray publicly, but then she discovered that prayer isn’t about formalities. It’s simply a conversation with God.
“They would call on me to lead prayer. I said. ‘Don’t call on me. You know, I don’t know what to say,’ but I’m glad God taught me that it was easy to talk to him,” she said.
“We had a pastor, Elder LW Winans,” Delores continued, “and when he would get down to pray, he’d just say, ‘Now Lord.’ Just like he’s coming back into another conversation with the Lord and that’s what it is — telling the Lord what you want. Your supplication, your praise and your petition.”
CeCe recently shared that she wishes she handed God the reins over her life when she was younger.
“I would just say, ‘Chill out.’ You know, you worry about things because, for some reason, you don’t think God is going to handle it. And I can look back and say, ‘Man, everything I had to face, he was right there, and he really did step up to the plate, and he took care of it,’” she said.
The singer recently performed on AMERICAN IDOL with former contestant Roman Collins.

In a Wednesday post, she added, “So thankful to see what God is doing. Amazed by the opportunity that @americanidol gave myself and @romancollinsofficial to share the news of God’s goodness to all. God was SO present!”
To sing a song that praises God’s goodness in front of millions of people on a predominantly secular stage is something neither artist will ever forget.
CeCe has nine siblings. Like her and her parents, they are all musically gifted.
“We had a piano in our home,” Delores told writer Michael P. Coleman in 2020. “And the Lord just gifted them to play the piano and different instruments, and also to write songs — something that I’ve never done! We’ve always loved music, and especially gospel music.”
