Streaming subscription prices are on the rise, so Movieguide® is sharing some alternatives for those interested.
“Can you remove some of the entertainment subscriptions that you have? Here are a couple options that you can do to be able to save money,” Movieguide® president and CEO Robby Baehr said in a YouTube Short.
“Instead of maybe Paramount Plus, you can get Pluto TV.”
Paramount’s essential plan begins at $7.99/month, and its plan with Showtime is $12.99/month. Pluto TV, on the other hand, is completely free.
“Watch 100s of free channels — with local & national news, live sports, fan-favorite shows, movies and more,” Pluto TV promises.
Baehr continued, “Instead of getting something like Disney Plus, you can get Tubi.”
Disney Plus offers its Hulu bundle with ads for $10.99/month, and its premium plan for $19.99/month. Tubi, however, is free, though it is ad supported.
“Instead of paying for Amazon Prime, you can get FreeVee [or] Roku TV, which can only watch if you have a Roku device, or Sling TV, which is on every device too,” Baehr shared.
Prime Video costs $8.99/month or is included with a Prime membership for $14.99/month.
Baehr concluded, “These are amazing options that you could save a huge amount of money on your entertainment content, and you can get for free and still get to enjoy awesome stuff.”

These options are great to keep in mind, especial with all the recent price hikes.
In the past five years, Netflix, Apple TV and Disney Plus have all gone up in price 100% or more. DirectTV Stream has gone up 74%, YouTube TV up 66% and Paramount+ and Peacock both up 60%.
Because of this, some users are turning to FAST (Free Ad Supported TV). Nielsen reported that during the first quarter of 2025, 72.4% of viewership occurred on ad-supported platforms, while only 27.6% viewed content on ad-free platforms.
Viewing ad versus ad-free options is a recent feature added to Nielsen’s “The Gauge.”
“Every day our clients use our data to make informed decisions about their business. As we head into the Upfront, this ad supported layer to our industry defining Gauge report provides deeper levels of analysis to help guide advertising strategies,” Nielsen CEO Karthik Rao said.
According to The Gauge, YouTube continues to be the most-watched free platform at 12%. The next free platform is Roku at 2.2%
Whether you prefer ad-free viewing or don’t mind the commercials to save some money, there are options available for everyone.
