Chiefs Backup QB Knows ‘God’s Been Good’ as Preps for Super Bowl LIX
By Movieguide® Contributor
Kansas City Chiefs backup quarterback Carson Wentz will face off against his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9.
Wentz, 32, has played for four different teams within the past four years. But despite the constant changes, the athlete is grateful for the journey God has put him on.
“It’s been a journey,” Wentz told the Inquirer. “Every day, or every year, has been something different so far, but I’m just along for the ride, and God’s been good, just continuing to open doors. [I’m] still playing the game I love, and it might look different, but [I’m] still having fun.”

He knows about pushing forward even when trials arise and shared some advice on the “The Pure Athlete Podcast” in 2023.
“Just keep going,” Wentz encouraged. “Have your goals and keep plugging along, and don’t let anybody try and derail you — stop you — from them. I would strongly encourage everybody to find their real purpose with their Creator, with Jesus, because that can kind of make all the difference when you’re going through all of the crap that life can throw at you.”
Wentz constantly uses his social media as a platform to tell others about Jesus.
In one post, he shared a series of photos that included him and several other teammates praying on the field and one of him wearing an AO1 (Audience of One) shirt. He shared 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 in the caption: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Wentz even has his favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 3:5-6, tattooed on his right bicep: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
