Commanders Rookie QB Secures Playoff Win by Giving ‘All My Worries’ to God
By Movieguide® Contributor
The Washington Commanders and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off in the NFC Wild Card Round on Sunday night.
Per Sports Spectrum, “The back-and-forth affair ended with Washington’s game-winning field goal that redirected off of the right goalpost and through as the clock hit triple zeroes. Washington’s win was the franchise’s first playoff victory since the 2005 wild-card round, a game which also occurred on the road against Tampa Bay.”
It was a special game for Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
“Daniels became the third rookie QB in the past three years to win a playoff game, joining C.J. Stroud and Brock Purdy, but the first rookie QB to win on the road since 2012,” the outlet continued. “The former Heisman Trophy winner completed 24 of his 35 passes for 268 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in his first taste of NFL postseason football. He was also Washington’s leading rusher on the day, with 36 yards on 13 attempts.”

After the game, Daniels was asked how he remains calm under pressure. His answer? Jesus.
“Trust in the Lord God,” the quarterback answered. “There’s nothing I should worry about, man, put all my worries on Him and He’ll take care of the rest.”

In an interview with Boardroom last month, Daniels dove further into his faith, especially “on what God has done in his life when asked about the adversity of his transfer from Arizona State to LSU.”
“I was dealing with stuff in my personal life and had to go across the [country] to a whole different university without knowing anybody there,” he said. “Trusting what God had for me and the plan He had set out for me.”
Daniels also credited his family for their guidance during that time.
“My family was with me every step of the way. I made my own decisions, but they were there to help guide me and push me to achieve my dreams and live out what I always said I wanted as a kid,” he said. “After I lost both my grandparents to COVID in the same month? Nothing can be harder than that. Football is my safe haven to go out there and have fun just playing ball.”
