Daddy Yankee and Bad Bunny are longtime friends and collaborators, but will the artist be making an appearance at Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show?

“No, not right now,” Daddy Yankee — real name: Ramón Ayala — said during a recent interview with ABC.

He explained, “I’m on a different mission right now. But even though I respect what he’s doing right now, don’t get me wrong. Benito is an ally and I love him…but I’m on a different mission right now. So I’ve got to represent what I’m doing right now 100%.”

“If he asked me to perform ‘Sonríele,’ that’s different,” Ayala joked, adding, “I think the biggest touchdown of [Bad Bunny’s] career will be when he accepts Jesus into his life.”

Earlier this year, Ayala released a Christian album, telling Billboard he wants to make “music with a purpose.”

“Before, my interest was transforming the industry [through music], and that purpose had to do more with business and money, influence, success,” he explained. “Now my purpose is to transform lives with that same instrument. They’re very different purposes.”

Ayala continued, “Everyone who’s inside the faith has to go to the world and preach the gospel. I can’t simply convert and stay silent, you know? This isn’t simply making Christian music; the challenge is to make the kingdom part of pop culture. My vision [in the past] was to transform the industry when they told me I couldn’t. Now I’m in the same situation with a different purpose: revolutionize and reinvent.”

While speaking at a panel at Billboard’s 2025 Latin Music Week, the artist shared his enthusiasm for this new path his career is taking.

“I feel reborn, reenergized, and truly joyful with everything I’m experiencing,” he said. “The personal, spiritual, and faith-based change certainly feels good in my heart. Each person has a different purpose and design. Everyone has a purpose to fulfill in their lives, and mine was this path: to forefront popular culture, announcing the Kingdom — that’s a challenge. My father is so strategic that he’s calling many people.”

Ayala continued, “I’m still under construction. I’m far from perfect. I’m vulnerable, I have weaknesses, I’m going to make mistakes, but I know my faith is in the Lord, and that he’s in control of that.”

Fans of both Daddy Yankee and Bad Bunny might be disappointed that the artist won’t be showing up for the halftime show, but for Ayala, it’s more important to stand firm in his faith and “mission.”
