Dallas Jenkins Hopes THE CHOSEN Season 4 Will be Available to Stream Soon

By Movieguide® Contributor

THE CHOSEN creator Dallas Jenkins is updating fans on when they can expect the show’s fourth season to hit streaming.

“I’ve seen a few things online of people saying, ‘Oh man, you know it could be six months.’ Or ‘I don’t even know if it’s going to come out this year.’ That is not the case. It will be well before then,” he explained. “I can’t give you an exact date but we are hopeful that it will be sometime in the near future. It’s not going to be three months. It’s not going to be that long. It will be shorter than that.”

Jenkins added that THE CHOSEN’s crew is “actively working on it every day,” saying, “I promise you, no one is more frustrated by this than I am. And no one wants to get this to you more quickly than I do. We’re working on it. I promise you.”

In a previous Facebook video, he went into more detail about the delay.

“We cannot release Season 4 to streaming now, and there will be a delay longer than we anticipated and hoped for,” Jenkins said. “There are some legal matters that we are dealing with right now that are hopefully being resolved.”

He explained that he couldn’t “share any more details,” but said, “The goal is to have them resolved so that we can, long-term and short-term, better serve you, ensure the show remains free forever and gets to over a billion people, and also allows us to be sustainable forever.”

Despite these challenges, THE CHOSEN is still moving forward with production on Season 5.

“It is Day 1. In the midst of all the craziness of us trying to get Season 4 to you…and in the midst of all the craziness of THE CHOSEN in general, all over the world, we are officially commencing Day 1 of 68 days of filming, here in beautiful Utah,” Jenkins shared in a recent Instagram video. “We have done our first rehearsal, and we are about to get going. It is unbelievable.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the upcoming fifth season:

THE CHOSEN has been renewed for Season 5 and will begin filming next month.

“Cameras will begin rolling on THE CHOSEN Season 5 in Utah starting April 11; the series will shoot there for six weeks before shifting to the show’s home base in Texas for the remainder of the production,” Variety reported.

Season 5 will pick up right after Season 4 at the beginning of Holy Week.

“This is when the plot thickens, and Lazarus will be hiding at this point because of what’s happened in Season 4,” Jenkins explained. “We are covering in Season 5 the most important week in history. Season 6 is the most important day in history.”

“Season 6 ain’t gonna end well,” he added in a live stream video. “It’s the saddest moment in the history of the human race.”
