Dan + Shay Make History As First Coaching Duo On THE VOICE

Country duo Dan + Shay are making history on THE VOICE as the first two-person coaching team.
Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney are joining season 25 of THE VOICE as coaches, alongside returning coaches John Legend, Reba McEntire, and Chance the Rapper.
The country duo announced their new gig on THE VOICE on Instagram, writing that they are “so excited” to be a part of the show.
This isn’t the first time Dan + Shay have appeared on the singing competition show. The duo were featured in season 20 as battle advisors for Blake Shelton.
Dan + Shay’s two-person coaching team isn’t the only recent shake-up on THE VOICE.
Shelton, who has been on the show since it first began airing, announced that he would be leaving THE VOICE after its 24th season. Movieguide® previously reported:
Country singer Blake Shelton announced he will leave THE VOICE after this season to spend more time with his family.
“I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from THE VOICE after next season,” Shelton announced via Instagram late last year. “This show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me.”
Shelton has been a coach on THE VOICE since the first season, co-starring with many other singers including his now wife, Gwen Stefani who joined the show in 2014 and coached a handful of seasons since. The two started dating in 2015, following Stefani’s first season and got married in July of 2021, making Shelton a stepfather to Stefani’s three sons.
Although THE VOICE has had many winners throughout the years, Shelton believes he has won “the ultimate prize” by meeting his wife. The two have shared that they are happiest together as a family at their ranch in Oklahoma.
“We get away from everything [in L.A.], and we’re just us,” Shelton said. “It truly does feel different. That’s where I feel the most comfortable, happy and safe.”
