Do you have a favorite time of year? AMERICAN IDOL alum Danny Gokey loves all the seasons and shared what God’s teaching him through the “beauty and purpose” of each one.
“I love beaches, but I also love winter. And I see the beauty in fall. I see the beauty in spring,” Gokey said in an Instagram video. “I just wanna remind you that every season has its beauty, but sometimes, some seasons feel longer, colder, darker than any other season.”
“No matter what season you’re in, I just wanna remind you guys that God is still working even when it seems like things are hard,” he continued. “Seasons don’t last forever. You know, there’s pruning seasons in our life, and we have to just remind ourselves that we love to be in seasons of results, seasons of fruits. But sometimes it takes the pruning and the sitting down for God to mold us.”
Gokey partnered with YouVersion to release a Bible study plan called “Hope for Every Season” to help those who are in a difficult spot or need a fresh outlook on the season they’re currently in.
“Autumn is such a season of juxtapositions. All seasons are about change, but autumn is the embodiment of being okay with and embracing change and letting go,” the singer wrote in the study’s first installment.
He encouraged readers to use autumn-like seasons in their lives to “store up” the abundance of past seasons and prepare for what God has ahead.
” Be faithful in doing the work God has called you to now so that you can enjoy rest and warmth during the long, barren days of winter, and the sweetness of new growth in spring!” Gokey wrote.
His song “Only For A Moment” shares a similar sentiment:

Even here there is hope
Buried in the hurt
Before the bloom of a rose
There’s a season in the dirtBut something beautiful is on the way
Where you are is not where you were made to stayIt’s only for a moment
So keep holdin’ on
It’s only for a moment
No it won’t be longHis plan for you is perfect
And this season has a purpose
It’s only for a moment
In Romans 8:28, Paul reminds believers that “…we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
No matter what season you are in right now — whether a period of darkness and pain or of joy and light — Gokey wants you to remember that God can and will use every season for His good.
