Danny Gokey is up to some shenanigans in his latest Instagram video.
“Hey, honey, do you trust me?” Gokey asks, standing behind his daughter with his arms held out.
As he counts down into a trust fall, he hilariously walks away while his daughter supposably falls on the floor.
“You know, I always tell my kids, ‘Don’t trust in man, but trust in God, ’” he says to the camera. “God’s got you!”
“Ow, dad!” his daughter yells in the background.

The video then segues into a clip from his “God’s Got You” music video.
“Even when life feels shaky, we can TRUST that God will always catch us! ✝️😂” Gokey wrote in the caption.
Singer Tauren Wells commented, “😂 That’s crazy.” Someone else commented, “BRUH 😂😂😂 your parenting/evangelism style is just BRUTAL 🤣🤣🤣”
When the musician announced the song in 2024 on his Sound of Heaven album, he said he created the song as a reminder that God is always by your side, no matter the trials you face.
“Even when your world is shaking, believing that He is with you & will bring you through. My prayer is that this song encourages you to stand firm in that & keep praising, no matter what!” he said.
Gokey said of the album’s theme, “Heaven is more than just one sound. I believe that the diversity of songs on Sound Of Heaven is a reflection of the wide variety of sounds and music we’ll get to hear in heaven! From worship to pop and Latin to Afrobeats, there really is something here for everyone, and my ultimate desire is for people to know that no matter who they are or what they’ve done, there’s room for them inside His love, and heaven is a celebration that EVERYONE is invited to!”
He believes the songs will mean different things to different people — by they will all inspire trust and hope.
“With all the noise in our culture threatening to distract and overwhelm us, may this album be a reminder to focus on the ‘sound of heaven’ that gives us the joy, strength and encouragement needed to live life abundantly with God!”
Other songs on the album are the title song, “Sound of Heaven,” “Wannabe,” “Todo El Mundo,” “Can’t Help But Worship” and more.
Currently, Gokey is midway through his Hope Nights tour with We Are Messengers and Jon Reddick. The final tour date is May 3.
He said, “We are seeing the Jesus centered life we share offstage really show up onstage each night. What a privilege to get to do this together! See you soon!”
