‘Doesn’t Feel Real’: Tennessee Mom Wins HGTV Smart Home Drawing

By Movieguide® Contributor

Mother and wife Stacey Braswell won the 2023 HGTV’s Smart Home giveaway.

“Congratulations to Stacey Braswell of Kingsport, Tennessee! She is the winner of the HGTV® Smart Home 2023 sweepstakes, a grand prize package valued at over $2.2 million,” HGTV’s Chelsea Faulkner reported.

In a video shared by PEOPLE, HGTV’s Brian Patrick Flynn surprised Braswell, who thought her “office would be used as a filming location for a TV show.”

“She thinks that she’s just gonna be sitting in her regular spot at the front desk, greeting me, welcoming me and then taking me back for my appointment,” Flynn said. “But that’s not what’s gonna happen.”

Braswell, a dentist office employee, her husband, Johnathan, and their daughter were all surprised when they found out about their contest win.

“It still doesn’t feel real,” Braswell expressed. “You never think you’re going to win, but somebody has to…and it was us!”

After seeing the home through pictures and videos, Braswell stated, “I love the privacy and how much space there is to entertain.”

New Mexico News reported, “The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home sits at approximately 3,095 square feet on nearly two acres of land. Special features include a dumbwaiter that can send food to the rooftop deck, a spa plunge pool and firepit in the backyard, and smart technology across the home.”

Tiffany Brooks designed the interior, and she described the home as “a lavish oasis that melds traditional with modern, complete with smart living solutions that will provide the winner with the best of both worlds.”

PEOPLE added, “It was designed by architecture firm Lorn Tryk Architects PC, features landscape design from Bespoke Garden Plans and was ultimately built by Boss Builders.”

“The home also features a bright white kitchen, a deep green living room with carpet tiles, a primary bedroom that Brooks says is ‘all about the bold geometry’ and a bathroom with a spa-like wet room. The location boasts plenty of outdoor perks, too, such as a kitchen with a built-in grill, a deck with a heated plunge pool, a rooftop deck, and views of the mountains,” PEOPLE reported.
