DUCK DYNASTY star and Grandpa Phil Robertson’s health is “not good” right now, his family says.

Jase and Al Robertson and their cousin Zach Dasher divulged Phil’s health status on the April 2 episode of their “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” podcast.

“The No. 1 question I get everywhere I go [is], ‘How’s your dad doing?’ Now, I’m just giving the blunt truth. I say, ‘Not good,'” Jase said, adding that Phil is getting “professional care.”

Dasher recently visited Phil and broke down afterward.

“I pulled in when Zach was coming out…and I was like, ‘How’d that go?'” Jase said. “And Zach just lost it, you know, and I kind of realized in that moment when you’re in these battles day by day you kind of compartmentalize everything just so you can deal with it.”

“We’re making him comfortable and we’re doing the best we can. I think that’s just what you do,” Jase added.

Dasher already knew what Alzheimer’s looks like, as he experienced it with his mom, but he hadn’t seen Phil in a while and didn’t realized how severely the disease affected him.

“I think when you’re in it like you guys are, you’re seeing the fade. But I hadn’t been around or seen him in a few months. So I come in and it’s like, ‘Whoa,'” Dasher said.

“I’ve said this a lot about dementia and Alzheimer’s,” he said. “But I think anyone in our audience who’s gone through it…this will resonate with them — that we talk a lot about how it steals the memories of the ones who have the disease.”

Dasher feels as if it steals the memories of those they care about, too.

“It’s just hard to watch,” he said.

“We appreciate the prayers,” Jase added.

The DUCK DYNASTY family first announced Phil’s health struggles last December. Jase said Phil had a blood disease that caused “all kinds of problems” in his body and that he had early-stage Alzheimer’s, Church Leaders reported.

Phil was an important person in granddaughter Sadie Robertson Huff’s life, and he even officiated her marriage.

She shared Dec. 7, “Seeing all of the articles go out yesterday about my grandpa’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis has kept my tears flowing… something about it being public makes it even more real. I’ve been thinking today about our life being so public…”

“In moments like this, it can feel overwhelming for such bad news to be such public news. But you know what? I’m genuinely so thankful my family chose to make our life public because of how incredible it is that so many people know my grandpa!” she said.

She noted that she’s grateful that so many people could see how great he is and “learn from his faith.”

Phil is certainly an impactful person for Christ, and his incredible story of faith is told in THE BLIND. The movie depicts Phil’s hard road to Jesus as a drunkard who cheated on his wife — but she gave him another chance, and God did, too.

Movieguide®’s review summarizes, “THE BLIND is a very good movie as a Christian testimony.”
