Why Erin and Ben Napier Don’t Take Part in This Christmas Tradition
By Movieguide® Contributor
There are a lot of special Christmas traditions to take part in, but Erin and Ben Napier are skipping one — and for a very relatable reason.
When asked if the couple does an Elf on the Shelf for their daughters, Helen and Mae, Ben replied, “We don’t do it.”
“We’ve got too much going on,” he explained. “We’ve had several people try to give us Elves on the Shelf, and we’re like, ‘No way.’”
Erin agreed but said she admires the effort other people put into the activity.
“I appreciate people that have the stamina to do it,” she said.
While the couple don’t have an Elf on the Shelf, they participate in plenty of other Christmas traditions. Ben has previously spoken about his love for the holiday, calling it “part of who I am.”

“Ben says his mom told him ‘you marry the one you never want to stop talking to,’” Erin posted on Instagram. “So 6 days after meeting, and 2 days before we would be on a one month Christmas break apart, he told me ‘I think I’m in love with you.’ and I said ‘I’m in love with you too.’ ‘I’m going to marry you,’ he told me — “Yes. That sounds perfect,” I told him.”
She added, “We haven’t really ever spent any time apart since then.”

“We’ve gotten to know each other in a way that I think a lot of married couples don’t get the opportunity to know each other because we’re together 24 hours a day for 20 years,” Erin reflected in an interview with Us Weekly. “It’s just a real unusual arrangement where we get to spend our entire life together and I love that.”
Ben added, “We recommend it.”
