HGTV Star’s Daughter Designs Dream Home at Age 6 — You Have to See It

HOME TOWN star Erin Napier’s daughter is following in her mother’s footsteps.

The HGTV personality revealed that her daughter Helen is already designing houses at just 6 years old. A series of snaps from Pinterest posted to her mom’s Instagram reveals her plans.

“The ‘little cottage that’s wood with a brick chimney’ that Helen (age 6) plans to build at our farm in the field by the pond when she’s a grown up,” Napier wrote in the caption as pictures scroll past. “*As dictated to me at bedtime and illustrated by pinterest images I could find* Also, ‘it will smell like s’mores inside and we will play Christmas music mostly but sometimes fall sounding music.’ I’ve never wanted to visit a place that doesn’t exist so badly.

“UPDATE: I have shown Helen these images and she said I got it all exactly right except ‘the ramp and fishing spot on the pond would need some hand rails and a little gate to keep the kids from falling in,’” Napier concluded.

Throughout the video, Erin describes what exactly her daughter’s dream home looks like.

“A ‘dark-green’ paint job with white windows, a ‘screen porch by the pond,’ stained glass windows, a ‘little white fence’ and a ‘small garden’ where Helen wants to grow strawberries and tomatoes,” PEOPLE reported. “Helen’s dream home also includes a pond dock for her to fish off of, a front door that’s ‘darkish lightish blue,’ a ‘little bathroom,’ a guest bedroom with a ‘rocking chair and a little TV’ and a kitchen that would look like the wooden ‘furniture daddy builds.'”

Many of Napier’s followers commented on the post and complimented Helen on such a great design.

“Oh how I love Helen and her imagination,” one person wrote.

“This sweet girl has been given the gift of a childhood that allows her to dream and use her imagination to its fullest. One without screen time/social media. Dream on sweet Helen,” another said.

Allowing their kids to be creative — and experience a childhood without screens — is a priority for the Napiers.

“Is it mean to keep [my children] from communicating with smart phones? I don’t care,” Erin posted a few years ago. “I’m also keeping them from finding a distorted picture of who they think they need to be, porn, hate, the criticism of strangers. Childhood is so short. We’re gonna savor every last second of our girls’ that we can.”

Movieguide® previously reported on her thoughts about the issues caused by social media:

HGTV star Erin Napier is explaining how social media and smartphones are affecting the way young people communicate.

“The handful of kids we know who are coming out of high school whose parents had the good sense to say ‘You’re not going to have a smartphone, you’re not going to have social media’ — those are the kids we snatch up as fast as we can to hire for our companies because they’re able to have conversations,” she said while appearing on the “Raising Boys and Girls” podcast.

She added, “They can use their actual voice to speak to people. And this is crazy that this is even something we’re having to really work hard to find, but young people are struggling. They are really struggling to know how to communicate, how to handle conflict, how to just talk to each other and to people, and we want to make sure our girls have self-assurance.”
