Great American Family star Cameron Mathison is slated to host a new game show.
The Game Show Network has just revealed the three new shows it will be premiering this year: BEAT THE BRIDGE, TIC TAC DOUGH and FLIP SIDE.
“In keeping with Game Show Network’s strategy, we continue to produce originals to keep our pipeline fresh, which resonates with our viewers,” Stuart Zimmerman, executive vice president of ad sales at Sony Pictures Advertiser Sales, told Variety.
Zimmerman continued, “As the overall marketplace faces headwinds, Game Show Network has weathered the storm better than most of its counterparts in both viewership and distribution. Our audience is highly engaged with our programs and our client’s commercials are viewed in a trusted environment.”
Mathison will host BEAT THE BRIDGE.
“Based on BBC’s BRIDGE OF LIES from STV Studios, BEAT THE BRIDGE features an enormous interactive bridge that dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions,” Deadline reported. “Each step forward puts money in the team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. However, the team gets to keep the money only if it can ‘beat the bridge’ by returning one of its players back across before time expires in an exciting end game.”
TIC TAC DOUGH “is a relaunch of the classic game show that first aired on NBC between 1956 and 1959,” TV Insider wrote. “It was later revived for CBS and aired from 1978 to 1986, then for a syndicated run in 1990.”
The game show will see contestants move their game pieces around a board, all while trying to avoid a dragon who can steal their turns and keep them from winning the $10,000 grand prize.
Similar to FAMILY FEUD, FLIP SIDE will feature two teams competing against each other to guess how “two different groups of people feel about the same issue,” Deadline wrote. “The teams compete for a shot at $10,000 by guessing the top answers based on anonymous surveys.”
BEAT THE BRIDGE is set to premiere in June, followed by TIC TAC DOUGH in August, and FLIP SIDE in September.
