Hoda Kotb Returns to TODAY, ‘Grateful’ Daughter Is Home From ICU

By Movieguide® Contributor

TODAY anchor Hoda Kotb recently returned to the morning show after two weeks off to deal with a “family health matter.”

Movieguide® previously reported:

Hoda Kotb has taken a break from the TODAY show for a while due to an ongoing “family health matter.”

Viewers have noticed that Kotb has been absent from the show since February 17, but her colleagues hadn’t explained her absence until recently.

“And as for Hoda, we know a lot of you have been wondering how she’s doing,” he continued. “We can tell you that Hoda’s okay. She’s got a family health matter that she’s been dealing with, so we look forward to seeing Hoda and Savannah back at the desk real, real soon.”

Kotb explained the situation further when she returned.

“My youngest, Hope, was in the ICU for and then in the hospital for a little over a week,” she shared. “I’m so grateful she’s home, she is back home. I was waiting for that day to come, and we are watching her closely.”

Kotb didn’t elaborate on why Hope was hospitalized, but she did express “the amount of gratitude” she had for the doctors and nurses who helped her daughter.

“I’m grateful for the doctors at Weill Cornell who were amazing and the nurses,” she concluded. “And I’m grateful for my family and I’m grateful to friends like you [co-host Savannah Guthrie] who were there every single day. So I want to say thank you for that. I love you.”
