THE OLD STORIES: MOSES, a companion series to Amazon Prime’s HOUSE OF DAVID, will launch exclusively on Wonder Project on May 14.

The synopsis reads, “From the world of HOUSE OF DAVID, THE OLD STORIES: MOSES is a three-part companion special that opens a window into the narratives that shaped Israel long before David took the throne. As the past unfolds with epic force, a young shepherd sees his own future reflected in the courage, failure, and obedience of those who came before him.”

The project is produced by Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios. The same director, Jon Erwin, helmed the project. Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley stars as Moses and O-T Fagbenle stars as Pharaoh. Louis Ferreira, Anna Khaja and Rada Rae also star, a press release stated.

Erwin executive produces with Jon Gunn and Justin Rosenblatt for Wonder Project. Gavin J. Behrman is co-executive producer, and Adam Abel is also a producer, TV Insider reported.

The three-part companion series will be available via Wonder Project’s subscription on Prime Video in the US for $8.99/month or $89.99/year. The Christian Post reported it will have a global release date later this year.

“Moses is one of the most iconic figures in history, and his story still resonates with us today. We set out to tell THE OLD STORIES: MOSES with a cinematic awe and scale that feels both epic and personal. I am especially proud of the cast performances, and I can’t wait for people to see it on Wonder Project,” Erwin said in a statement.

In the trailer for the series, Moses is seen next to the famous burning bush mentioned in Exodus 3.

“I heard a voice,” Moses says. “He knew my name. He told me I must return to Egypt, to the place of my birth, to where my people are in bondage, slaves.”

The trailer glimpses significant moments in Moses’ life, including an Egyptian princess discovering baby him as a baby in a basket in the river and the 10 plagues and parting of the Red Sea.

Gunn recently spoke about the importance of faith-based stories.

“The purity is what makes it work,” he said. “Studios often try to duplicate authenticity, but it doesn’t have the soul. We focus on what we call ‘epic authenticity,’ stories with real emotional truth, made with genuine passion.”

“If I don’t feel moved by it, I don’t want to make it,” he emphasized. “We look for stories that make you want to tell your friends, ‘You have to see this.’”

Stay tuned for the three-part special, which comes out on May 14.
