How These 3 World Series Stars Let Christ Shine Through Them

CBN Sports asked several MLB players in the World Series about their faith and what it means to them.

Tommy Edman of the Los Angeles Dodgers said that his faith was crucial for him this year as he began the season not knowing if he would get to play.

“I started the year on the injured list, you know, I didn’t necessarily know when I was going to be able to play this year,” he said. “But I think having my faith guide me along the way — God had a plan. He had a plan for my season, and I think now looking back on it, it was tough to understand what it was at the time, but now looking back on it, I think just being grounded in my faith has allowed me to be calm through everything. I have a sense of peace regardless of what happens, and I think that helped me get through this.”

New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham came to Christ just last year and shared how He’s transformed his life.

“I’ve kind of gotten beaten down by baseball in my life, and just kind of put a lot of value into it,” he began. “I was struggling. I felt lost. I just decided to give my life to Christ. I think I got baptized for the first time on December 10th this past year. So, God is good, man, and He redeems in very obvious ways sometimes. It’s definitely a blessing to be here.”

Dodgers pitcher Michael Kopech was asked about how his faith has impacted his time at the World Series.

“The journey that I’ve gone on as an individual spiritually with my family, the ups and downs, the hurt that I felt, the hurt that I’ve caused, and the growth out of those moments of pain have been life-changing, to say the least,” he explained. “Christ is redeeming, and everything that I’ve had success with, everything that I’ve been blessed with comes from Him. It’s really special to me.”

The Dodgers secured their second World Series title in five years and “their first in a full season since 1988” on Wednesday.

“And in this 7-6 victory, the Dodgers ushered in their champagne celebration the hard way, becoming the first team in a World Series-clinching win to come back from down five or more runs. They also became the first team in MLB postseason history to fall behind by five-plus runs, erase that deficit, fall behind again and yet still win the game,” the MLB reported.
