Christian influencer Lindsey Gurk is sharing the true meaning of a rainbow — a promise that goes beyond Genesis.
“In Genesis…’I have placed my rainbow in the clouds,’” she read. “’It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth. When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds and I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures, never again will the floodwaters destroy all life.’ …This is what God told Noah.”
She explained the word for rainbow in Hebrew is “Keshet,” which also means “war bow.” She took an illustration of a rainbow that her son drew and flipped it sideways to resemble a bow. She then put it right side up to show how God hung the bow in the clouds, which signifies he’s no longer “at war” with humans.
“All he wanted was to have a relationship with us, but what happened? That slithering, slimy, deceptive snake snuck in and messed it up with his deception because we can have a relationship with Him. So how did He take [the weapon, the bow] on Himself?”
She explained that He took on sin by sending His son, Jesus, to the world in human form.
“He paid the debt once and for all. Forgiven! Victory! He took it upon himself so that we may have a relationship with Him.”
“That should make you feel so loved,” she said with conviction. “Thank you, Jesus.”
She recently shared another cool fact she learned: sheep’s blood is used to cure snake bites. She found it remarkable that “the blood of the lamb of God” is the antivenom for snake bites and a snake is the creature the devil chose to disguise himself as.
“Regardless of what you may think of God’s Word right now…this is cool,” she said.

Gurk constantly sees the beauty of God’s work. Recently, she shared that she’s struggled with infertility for the last couple of years. A few months ago, she threw a container at the wall out of frustration. It left a hole in the wall, but she decided to redeem it.
She painted a cross over it and put her handprints all around it. At the bottom of the cross, she put flowers to represent her kids and her sister’s unborn babies.
“I didn’t have a big plan. I just wanted to symbolize how the Lord turns all things beautiful,” she wrote in the post.
Gurk’s discoveries are a reminder that even in pain and uncertainty, God keeps his promises.
