Why the World Needs A MINECRAFT MOVIE, According to Jack Black

A MINECRAFT MOVIE just dropped in theaters last week, and the stars think it’s exactly what the world needs right now.

“We’ve got to work together…There’s so much violence and war and hatred. And that’s what I love about this movie — there’s a lot of love in it and there’s a lot of creativity,” Jack Black, who plays Steve, told The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie isn’t without conflict, but it ends with a positive message.

“There is some anger and violence too, but in the end it’s about friendship and working together to make [the world] a better place,” Black added.

Costar Jason Momoa chimed in, adding, “I think everyone needs to escape a little bit right now. It’s nice to sit back and have a really fun adventure and giggle and laugh.”

A MINECRAFT MOVIE, which released April 4, sees “Four misfits…suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world while embarking on a quest with an unexpected, expert crafter,” per IMDB.

Along with Black and Mamoa, the cast features Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers Sebastian Hansen and Jennifer Coolidge, all of whom Black was grateful to work with.

“This cast was amazing, top to bottom. You’ve got Jason Momoa, worth the price of admission; Danielle Brooks, who is fantastic; Emma Myers, she’s fantastic. You’ve got this new kid [Hansen], who is a genius. But then wild card! You didn’t know you’re gonna get Jennifer Coolidge?” he said.

Momoa hopes he can work on more Minecraft movies in the future.

“There’s so much more to tell; I just hope the fans will be delighted and let us make more,” he said.

Movieguide®’s review of MINECRAFT reads, “A MINECRAFT MOVIE is a live action fantasy adventure based on the bestselling video game of all time. Four misfits are pulled through a portal to Overworld, a world built of blocks and imagination, under the threat of destruction. The ‘ragtag’ team meets up with a zany crafter who can help them. They must learn to work together if they want to save Overworld from the evil queen and return to their own world.”

Movieguide® added that the movie boasts a “strong redemptive, morally uplifting worldview where people find meaning, strength, love, and courage in friendship to fight evil.” However it also “has lots of action violence, some light foul and crude language, a few scary images, rude humor, and some scary images” and therefore advises caution for older children and teens.

Black and Momoa had a great time working together and built a solid friendship, which includes wearing matching crocheted cardigans.

“I asked him his favorite colors and he told me and then I made them,” Momoa told Hits Radio UK of a viral photo of the pair wearing the sweaters. “I’ve loved all his movies, everything he’s been in, he’s amazing. He’s a GOAT.”
