WHEN CALLS THE HEART star Jack Wagner still gets recognized for his breakout performance in GENERAL HOSPITAL.
Wagner told the Melrose Place podcast, “Still The Place” that WHEN CALLS THE HEART “does remind me a bit of General Hospital in the ’80s.”
“That was my big break,” Wagner told the MELROSE PLACE podcast, “Still the Place.” “That fan base of that soap opera is still there.”
Even after decades in Hollywood, fans still recognize him as his GENERAL HOSPITAL character, which he played from 1984-1995.
“I still get called Frisco probably more than anything,” he said of the role he played on the show. “When a fan base starts to fall in love with the characters, it’s very real for them.”
Wagner also starred on the soap opera MELROSE PLACE from 1994-1999.
“I think we can all feel when something may be coming to an end on a series, and it felt like it there,” he said of the end of its seventh season. “So I felt really honored to have the last scene of the show to be Heather [Locklear] and I having bought this island and faked our death and doing our vows and walking off on the beach in the sunset. [It] was like, wow, what an honor to kind of carry the old guard into the last scene of the show, right?”
Today, he works on Hallmark’s WHEN CALLS THE HEART, which the network just renewed for Season 13.
Its star, Erin Krakow, shared the news on Instagram, saying, “Psst — I got news. WHEN CALLS THE HEART is returning for season 13, and we are SO EXCITED! We can’t wait to get back to Hope Valley to tell more of the stories you love! We’ll see you on Hallmark.”
WHEN CALLS THE HEART Season 12 captured the romantic relationship between “Elizabeth and Mountie Nathan Grant as they embraced the joy of new romance. Reporter Rosemary Coulter and retired Mountie Bill Avery teamed up once again to investigate a train robbery, while Governor Lucas Bouchard and Mayor Lee Coulter quite literally found common ground. The community came together to celebrate and support each other through a season of discovering passions, leaps of faith, and a whole lot of dancing,” an official logline of the season reads, per TV Line.
Season 12 left fans on the biggest cliffhanger, but they’ll have to wait to find out what happens to Hope Valley’s residents until Season 13 arrives, likely sometime in 2026.
