JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM, a new musical that tells the story of the nativity, will arrive in theaters this November.

“The greatest story ever told comes to life on the big screen this Christmas season,” the movie’s Instagram shared.

“Jesus is still alive, and this is where it all began,” director and producer Adam Anders shared.  “You just pinch yourself, it’s a dream come true, walking around, this whole thing.”

The musical stars Fiona Palomo as Mary, Milo Manheim as Joseph, Lecrae as the angel Gabriel, for KING AND COUNTRY’s Joel Smallbone as Antipater and Academy Award Nominee Antonio Banderas as King Herod.

“The character I play is fun, scary, and he’s cruel, and he’s tough,” Banderas said about his role as King Herod. “He can smell the change in the air. Something is going to happen that’s going to affect the world in which he thinks everybody should live. Something is happening, somebody is coming who is going to change that.”

The filmmakers hope that this musical will not only be enjoyable but remind audiences about the truth of Jesus.

“From the very beginning, how to learn to tell a story about the fact that God has bigger plans for us and even we have for ourselves. I hope that at the end of the fun and the music that they are reminded of that truth,” producer Alan Powell shared.

“JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM…is the first musical from Affirm Films, the same studio behind such movies as WAR ROOM, FIREPROOF, A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD and MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN,” Christian Headlines reported.

“This is Affirm Films’ first musical in 17 years and over 65 films, and the opportunity to work with one of the most successful music producers and songwriters for our first outing has resulted in a film that far exceeds our expectations,” said Rich Peluso, executive vice president and head of Affirm Films. “We’re looking forward to sharing this accessible and amazing musical journey with audiences around the world.”

The musical will arrive in theaters November 10.
