Kathie Lee Gifford: Prayer Was ‘The Road Out’ Of Deep ‘Despair’

Kathie Lee Gifford shared the thing that brought her out of “a black place” of despair.
“The last two years, because of the pain and a disappointment in my personal life…I wanted to go home to Jesus,” she said on an episode of PRAISE WITH SHEILA WALSH. “I felt like God was done with me because I couldn’t walk anymore.”
Gifford continued, “I was in a black place and a black space for two years. And I just kept crying out to Him, ‘Lord, if this is it, if this is all You have for me, I’m okay. Take me home…why would I want to be here?’”
She explained that, despite having “beautiful grandchildren being born in that time,” she still felt this sorrow, adding, “That’s how deep my despair was.”
“And in the meantime, God’s doing two things to you,” Gifford explained. “You just lash out, angry at Him, or you start to see everywhere around you that there were people suffering far more than you are and it gives you compassion for them that you thought you had, but you don’t know until it’s you.”
“I was praying for all these other people and that, I think, was the road out,” she concluded.
Gifford often shares encouraging messages of faith and prayers with her social media followers.
“O LORD, please soften our hardened hearts towards all who have hurt us and betrayed us and left us broken,” she wrote in a recent Instagram post. “Please help us to forgive it all, and look to You for the example of how to live our lives for You and for Your kingdom.”
Gifford also recently spoke about her hopes for President Donald Trump’s second term in office.
“He is an ever-evolving human being, and this man will not rest until he has fulfilled every promise that he has made to the American people. That I do know about Donald,” she told Fox News.
Gifford added, “I mean, he’s not a perfect man by any means, but he’s a different man now. He’s a different man than the man I met in 1981.”
