Lori Loughlin Doesn’t Take Her Career for Granted — Here’s Why

By Movieguide® Contributor

After a college admissions scandal in 2019 left Lori Loughlin in prison and on the outskirts of Hollywood, she is thankful for the second chance she has received and knows her new roles are a blessing.

Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli were convicted in 2019 of spending $500,000 to bribe the University of Southern California to admit their two daughters. Loughlin was sentenced to two months in prison, while Giannulli was handed a five-month sentence.

“Lori did a lot of soul searching after the whole college admissions scandal,” a source told In Touch. “It was a hellish time but being out the other side of it, she’s now able to see that it was a learning experience more than anything.”

“[Loughlin] would take it all back if she could,” the source added. “But she can’t do that so she’s done her best to find the lesson in it and, truth be told, it put a lot of things in life in perspective for her. She’s so grateful for the opportunities she’s getting, there was a time when it seemed like she was in danger of being canceled so she’s not taking this second chance for granted.”

Many of these roles are different from what she was being offered before the scandal. She recently joined the show ON CALL, a police drama airing on Prime Video. Coming from the sitcom scene, taking on this role was a new experience for her.

“This new show is a huge departure form what she’s used to, playing a cop isn’t something that’s really in her wheelhouse so it’s been a fun new challenge,” the source explained. “And she feels as though she’s growing as an actor, in a lot of ways it feels like a totally new chapter, she’s thrilled.”

“I can say for me, I’m always so happy to just get the phone call and be offered the job,” Loughlin told The New York Post about the role.

Loughlin has also spent a lot of time trying to repair her relationship with her daughters since the scandal, something everyone in the family has been focused on.

“The biggest hurdle for her is repairing her relationships with Bella and Olivia,” and source previously told Closer Weekly. “Lori feels that she’s a changed woman, and her girls have changed too. There’s a lot of work ahead. It’s going to take time.”
