You Have to Hear This Country Star’s Song About Praying for His Kids
By Movieguide® Contributor
Country star Luke Bryan just released a new album called, Mind of a Country Boy, and in one of the final tracks, he talks about praying for his kids.
In the song, “Jesus, ‘Bout My Kids,” Bryan sings about how taught his children about God and prays for them.
The lyrics to the song read:
Guide ’em as they go
‘Cause if anyone does, You know
Along the straight and narrow
All the places they could fallI used to talk to my kids about Jesus
He knew and loved ’em long before I did
I used to talk to my kids about Jesus
Now I talk to Jesus ’bout my kids
I used to talk to my kids about Jesus
Now I talk to Jesus ’bout my kids
Movieguide® previously reported on Bryan’s faith and family:
Country star Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline Boyer, explained why they adopted their nieces and nephew after their parents died.
Their nephew, Tilden Cheshire, 21, and their two nieces, Jordan, 28, and Kris Cheshire, 24, lost their mom, Kelly, in 2007, and seven years later, their dad, Ben, died in 2014…
Shortly after Ben’s death, Bryan and Boyer adopted the three teenagers…
The couple also share Thomas “Bo” Boyer Bryan, 15, and Tatum “Tate” Christopher Bryan, 13.
Bryan added, “I’ve watched my family go through ebbs and flows where we get mad at God and we get mad at why this has happened. Well, you keep going and you try to, try to be as positive as you can, and you try to appreciate every day. You’ll never get back to 100 percent. You’ll always be working to get back to 75 percent.”
Bryan and his wife, Caroline, have always tried to instill faith into their kids’ lives.
“We try to stress, every day, stress to them, the importance of Jesus and Christianity and being a good person and believing in higher powers,” Bryan explained in an interview with KDHL Radio in 2015. “I think during Christmas time, with kids, they get wrapped up in Santa Claus and stuff, so I think it’s fun that you sit back and really try to have a talk with them about the real reason.”
“When you become a parent, the anxieties of getting them through this life never go away,” he told PEOPLE. “There’s only so much you can do. You got to turn it over to Jesus, or your higher power, to look after them, because at the end of the day, that’s what you have to kind of plant your flag in — that God and Jesus are looking after them.”
