Oregon’s Faith-Filled QB Bo Nix Secures Pac-12 Player of the Week Award

The Oregon Ducks quarterback Bo Nix has secured his second straight Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award, which makes it the seventh for him as a Duck.
Movieguide® recently reported on Nix’s journey to faith:
“When I was seven, we lived in Atlanta. I asked Jesus into my heart, and…from…then on, it’s been a relatively steady relationship,” Nix told The 700 Club…
He eventually decided to play for Oregon and knew it was what God wanted for him.
“I never felt anything but peace about my decision, and I think He placed it on my heart because He didn’t put anything else in the way,” Nix said. “He didn’t make my decision difficult. He kind of just made all roads lead to Oregon…”
However, Nix doesn’t just impact people on the field. He also shares his faith off the field.
“Ultimately, I believe in Matthew where it says you’re the light of the world, and I think that our main goal on Earth is to go and influence others and to point them towards the Lord,” Nix expressed.
According to 247Sports, “Nix was announced the winner along with the rest of the league’s Player of the Week honors during a Monday afternoon press release by the Pac-12 Conference. Nix led the Ducks to their fifth straight by beating Arizona State 49-13 down in Tempe. The Ducks scored on their first six offensive possessions of the game, while Nix finished with 404 yards passing, six passing touchdowns, and he completed 82.8 percent of his throws in the game.”
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said, “Obviously I have an opinion about our quarterback, but it’s pretty hard to say he’s not the best quarterback in the nation. Throws for six touchdowns, ties a record for Oregon football, goes over 400 yards and only played one series in the second half. We all know what it could’ve looked like.”
After Saturday’s win against Arizona State, Bo Nix said, “We’re doing what we’re supposed to do and executing. Offensively, we just do what we do, and we go out there and compete every Saturday. We do our best to go out there and put a product on the field that we’re proud of and that we can grow from. I think when you look at our entire offense, there’s not a weakness.”
Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham told Nix to “win the natty [National Championship].”
“He has great balance. He actually threw the deep ball as good as I’ve ever seen him throw the deep ball today. He threw it at an elite level,” Dillingham said. “We were going to challenge him to throw versus man-to-man and put our guys in the ability to win one-on-ones in man-to-man coverage on early downs and he made unbelievable throws. He’s, in my opinion, the Heisman Trophy winner. I’m obviously probably a little bit biased. But he should win the Heisman Trophy.”
