Sadie Robertson Huff Explains Why We Can Believe God Exists
By Movieguide® Contributor
Sadie Robertson Huff opened up this year’s Passion Conference with an inspiring message about why we can believe in the existence of God.
The conference, which is geared toward young adults, was held Jan. 3-5 in Atlanta, Georgia.
During her sermon, the DUCK DYNASTY star shared how a fan once asked her to prove the reality of God.
Unsure of how to respond, she remembered how Passion founder Louis Giglio answered this same question.
“Because of the Bible,” Huff responded. She explained how the Word of God is alive and active today.
“When Josiah read the Word for himself, it changed him,” she said. “I know the Word is not lost in our day because I’m holding the Word and literally on my phone, I have the Word, and we all have Bibles in here. But I just wonder, although we have the Word, and it’s not technically lost, has it been lost on us? Has the value, has the power, has the gravity of the story been lost on us?”
Huff also reflected on the fact that God could prove Himself in huge, tangible ways but instead chose a different way.
“God actually could show up and prove it to you,” she said. “He could bring a fire from the sky right now and we’re like, ‘Yep, He’s real.’ He could enlighten our eyes to see the angels around us and we’d be like, ‘Totally real.’”
“But I just love that in Josiah’s day, it wasn’t an angel appearing to him. It wasn’t fire falling from the sky, although God has done that. He could do that. He’s perfectly capable and able to, but it was just the discovery of the Word that changed everything,” Huff explained. “That was all they needed to know.”
“I might not be able to convince you that God is real, but you could not convince me otherwise because the evidence of his faithfulness in my life, the character I see in this story [the Bible], is the character I see in my life,” she said. “Not because things are good, but because he is.”
“How do I know God is real? Because I know the story. And because the story has changed me,” she concluded.
Huff took to Instagram to summarize her message.
“How do I know God is real? I once was dead, and now I’m alive! Passion 2024 – we walked in one way – we left another. there is no more normal!” she wrote, along with photos from the conference.
She ended her post with Galatians 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Movieguide® recently reported on Huff:
Sadie Robertson Huff shared the good news of salvation as she reflected on the true meaning of Christmas…
“I’ve spent the last couple of weeks diving into the story of the Bible and trying to understand it better, and wow, this Christmas I’m feeling extra grateful! We, as humanity, were truly in need of a savior. I needed a savior! We needed to be saved from ourselves…our own brokenness, our own corruption, our own choices, our own evil, our own selfishness…our hearts needed a change, and on our own we couldn’t fix the problem,” she wrote.
“We couldn’t fix the brokenness of our heart,” Huff continued. “But JESUS. He came to fix our heart problem. I am so grateful for that!!!”
“I needed a heart change, and He changed my heart to a heart of compassion, purity, love, grace, hope, and desire for God,” she explained. “Did He make me/us perfect? Absolutely not. But He made us forgiven. He made a way, despite our imperfection, to be in relationship with a Holy God. The depth behind saying, ‘the reason for the season’ is so much deeper than I once knew it to be. I’m grateful for this time to reflect on Jesus coming to save us because of Gods incredible, beyond comprehension, mercy and love. WHAT A GIFT.”
