Pop Star Jams Out to Gospel Music in Heartfelt Moment
By Movieguide® Contributor
Shawn Mendes recently shared a video of himself jamming to Gospel music, and the comment section is here for it.
“Whether or not you’re religious or believe in a god. sometimes you gotta scrunch up your face and listen to someone sing realllll good from deep in the soul. Medicine for a tired heart,” he said on Instagram Aug. 22.
Mendes recently cried after he heard a Maverick City Music worship song. Movieguide® reported:
“Watching Maverick City choir singing about God, singing about Jesus, I’m sitting there watching this YouTube video and they’re singing about Jesus, and I just start crying, like crying my eyes out,” Mendes said.
Mendes opened up about the experience on the Man Enough Podcast.
“I’m like, how is something that my whole life I’ve grown up to believe is fanatic and not science and not the truth feel like home because of this song?” Mendes said.
The comment section on his new post was filled with enthusiasm for Mendes.
YouTuber Minnie Meg said, “When you pray for celebrities, this is what happens 🙌 keep praying for the Holy Spirit to touch his heart🙏🏻❤️And that Shawn will know, JESUS is the ONLY WAY”
“That feeling is the presence of Jesus!!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌,” another person said.
Musician Forrest Frank commented, “Jesus is the only way.”
Mendes has recently been hinting toward more spiritual things on his Instagram.
A video from Aug. 20 has him singing high notes with the caption, “Hallelujah,” which is the title of one of the songs on his album, Shawn, coming out next month.
Another photo shows a cross necklace hanging down his back.
Sets of photos he posted on Aug. 21 hint at a new song title on his upcoming album. One of the photos shows a billboard that says “THERE IS HOPE,” and Mendes’ post is captioned the same. One of the photos shows his tattoo of a swallow in flight.
Mendes grew up as an atheist, but he recently said now he’s “sure there’s a God or higher being.”
Please pray for Mendes that he will continue to seek truth and come to know Jesus Christ personally.
