Why Super Bowl Champion Fred Stokes Declares ‘Nothing is Too Big for God’

Super Bowl Champion Fred Stokes joined Jason Romano and the Sports Spectrum team to share how a natural disaster strengthened his relationship with Christ.

“In 2008 Mother’s Day weekend, our home was hit with a category four tornado and destroyed the whole home,” Stokes said. “We just happened to be in Orlando, but we could have been killed. So, I know that my life is different as a result of my relationship with Christ.”

“Had I not had my faith to sustain me through all of those things [trials], and say, ‘God did this, God did this, God did this, God did this, and God did this.’ Then evidently nothing is too big for God,” he declared.

Stokes understands the importance of building his life on Christ, a value he instills in his children.

“I tell my boys and I present it to myself. I have a threefold focus. God first, stay focused and keep moving forward. God first amongst everything. Matthew 6:33, ‘Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness.’ God first, stay focused. Stay focused on what He’s placed in front of me. And keep moving forward no matter what happens to me. That’s the way I live,” he shared.

Stokes played in the NFL from 1989-1997 for the Washington Redskins, Los Angeles Rams, St. Louis Rams and the New Orleans Saints.

“In 1991, he helped Washington to a Super Bowl XXVI win over Buffalo, contributing 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. In college, Stokes played on two NCAA Division I-AA national championship teams in 1985 and 1986 with Georgia Southern,” Sports Spectrum reported.

Additionally, Stokes is part of an organization called “All Pro Dad,” which helps fathers lead their families.

“Your family needs your time. Boys end up walking in the Dad’s footsteps, so if you are absent, abusive, a workaholic or a womanizer, that’s what your boys will be. Little girls end up marrying someone like their dads. So show them what it looks like to be a man and a husband,” Stokes advises dads on All Pro Dad’s website.

Other NFL All Pro Dad spokesmen include Tony Dungy, Terry Cousin, Jim Caldwell, Leslie Frazier and more.
