Taylor Hendricks became UCF’s highest-round draft pick in program history when he was drafted No.9 overall to the Utah Jazz. But it wasn’t just Hendricks’s skills that got him there, it was his trust in God.

Following his draft pick, Hendricks was interviewed and asked about his journey to the NBA.

“It took a lot of hard work — my mom making sacrifices for me and my brother,” Sports Spectrum reported of Hendricks. “And then just putting God first throughout my whole journey, it’s something that was really important through it.”

Hendricks’s Mother, Danielle, affirmed her faith in her son’s talents and abilities.

“He works really hard. He always puts God first. I knew this day was coming,” she said.

Hendricks told His Huddle about his walk of faith.

“Faith has always been important in my life,” Hendricks stated. “However, attending a Christian school since my junior year has allowed me to heavily strengthen my relationship with God and understand His Word and my purpose even more.”

His Huddle even posted on Twitter, “’No matter what happens on or off the court, I will be just fine because God already has a plan.’ A top freshman and rising across NBA draft boards, UCF forward @tayxhendricks says that he hopes his platform can be used to glorify God.”

Hendricks responded, “All Glory to God! Lived by this my whole life.”

As Hendricks plans to step off the college floor and into the big arenas every night, he will be faced with pressures he’s never dealt with before. However, Hendricks’ knows that no matter what happens, God already has a plan.

“My trust in Him helps me feel assured that no matter what happens on or off the court, I will be just fine,” Hendricks expressed to His Huddle, “because He already has a plan that will leave me blessed at the end of the day.”
