THE CHOSEN Season 3 Finale Tops Box Office in Theatrical Opening

THE CHOSEN Season 3 finale, which featured episodes 7 and 8 as a Fathom Event on Feb. 2, topped the box office with a $1.67M opening.
“We didn’t spend anything on marketing, we weren’t anticipating big numbers,” creator Dallas Jenkins said in a statement. “We just wanted to quietly make this available on the big screen to our fans for two days. It’s fun to see them not keep it quiet. ”
“We were excited to give you a chance to see the finale on the big screen, but weren’t expecting this. Look what YOU did,” THE CHOSEN wrote in a recent Instagram post.
Deadline notes that THE CHOSEN Season 3 finale’s premiere outperformed blockbuster AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER:
Outside of the two previews, it was an interesting Thursday for titles in regular release, meaning 20th/Disney/Lightstorm’s Avatar: The Way of Water didn’t top the day. Instead, it was Fathom’s Chosen Season 3 Finale at 1,940 theaters which led the day with $1.67M.

THE CHOSEN is coming back to the big screen!
The first two episodes of Season 3 premiered in theaters last November. A new Instagram post from THE CHOSEN’s account has announced that more episodes from the third season will air in theaters.
“Episodes 7&8 of Season Three are so big they demand to be on the big screen,” the post’s caption read. “And apparently you demand it, too, as the rush for tickets initially crashed the Fathom Events website. But now you can get tickets there or your local listing for our big Season Finale Thursday, Feb 2 or Friday, Feb 3.”
