THE PRICE IS RIGHT Moves Studios After 50 Years At Television City Lot

After 50 years, THE PRICE IS RIGHT is heading to a new studio lot.

Since 1972, the popular game show has been taped on the Television City lot in Los Angeles. More than 9,500 episodes were filmed there, but now THE PRICE IS RIGHT is moving.

The show’s new studio is a modern soundstage in Glendale.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT’s cast and crew are sad to leave the historic studio behind.

“I’ll miss the sense of history,” host Drew Carey said. “When I come in here it’s just always felt like a nice, comfortable shoe.”

Show announcer George Gray also has mixed feelings about the game show’s new location. Gray expressed sadness about leaving Studio 33, which is where the legendary CAROL BURNETT SHOW was filmed.

“If it was up to me, we wouldn’t leave,” he shared. “I mean, I love this history.”

Carey added, “The fact that I’m here and I’m the last one to host this PRICE IS RIGHT here, and they’re trusting me to move it along and start the whole stage again, I feel pretty good about that. [It’s] a pretty good honor.”

Movieguide® previously reported on THE PRICE IS RIGHT’s legacy:

Bob Barker, former host of the beloved daytime TV show THE PRICE IS RIGHT, said that he remembers his job fondly ahead of its 50-year anniversary.

The 97-year-old retired in 2007 after 35 years as the show’s host, but he has not lost his sense of humor.

“I’m often asked what I loved most about my years with ‘Price,’ and the first thing that pops to mind is… the money, of course!” Barker joked in an interview with PEOPLE.

“All kidding aside, there was much to love,” Barker continued. “I had the pleasure of working with a dedicated and talented cast and crew for 35 great years. Particularly close to my heart was the ability our vast popularity gave me to remind our entire audience daily about the importance of spaying and neutering your pets.”

“We didn’t solve the world’s problems,” Barker once said. “But we hopefully helped you to forget your problems for just a while.”
